First day at work. You feel like you're in some sort of competition. You mess up once, and you're disqualified. Rowen, who had already been threw one job, worked quietly in the corner of the small pet store. The hamsters that belonged to the cage he was cleaning were scurrying around in their balls, overjoyed by their sudden freedom. It was obvious that they didn't get out much.
When he finished, Rowen watched the happy hamsters run around for a moment. He moved to the next cage, letting those hamsters out, too, until all the cages were clean and all the hamsters were enjoying their freedom. Though he felt bad, Rowen put them all back in their cages, trying to ignore their sad, droopy eyes. "I have two ferrets and a cat," he reminded himself, "I do not need a hamster."
