a few nights ago, i was washing my hands in front of a mirror, and i thought i saw my patron's body start to form around mine. does anyone have any thoughts as to what went on, or if i was just stressed out from working and what not? someone else asked if i thought i was a avatar. anyone think there's any chance of it, or heard of it happining before?

I take it by patron you mean a personally favored god or similar figure?
You ought to look into invocation, most books on magick, especially ones oriented toward pagan practice will have a section on invoking gods --- and in practice is not unlike to your experience, visually anyway--- any feelings or knowing accompany the experience? as to the question about avatars -- I would think you would know if you were a god walking the earth in physical form.. not to say that its impossible, but I think you would know it. as to have I heard of instances of avatars before, sure -- I’d say most people are familiar with at least one --- he was a carpenter about 2,000 years ago. Of course one must accept the word of quite a few generations of long dead people to believe that Christ was in fact god and man walking the earth -- but it's a popular story as you'll admit. as to more recent instances, I am not personally aware of them, but due to the very nature of eastern belief, I have no doubt that the Hindus could give you a rich history of the avatars of gods walking among man. We in the West have long been very picky about our gods, tending to think that they don’t really mingle with us --- that of course is almost totally resultant of the long reign of Christianity (I mean sure, he's here there and everywhere and always with us, but he only came down and hung out that one time) you might also consider some of the more common mirror gazing phenomena, while I’ve never experienced a form appearing over my own -- it is a rather common phenomenon to see ones own body morph and change revealing visions of other people. (or, especially it seams in my case, a corpse... but that’s a different matter entirely) Quite a few people have reported seeing someone else looking back at them from the mirror, what the cause is -- I don’t know, but it is fairly wide spread and well documented. Am I good with persuasion? Yes, I dear say I am. Wonderful field, so many possibilities and uses--- easily abused though, so caution is necessary.
Word and Speech craft are dead useful to any intelligent person, in any field. and TeleCoercion will serve anyone with enough skill much more than other extravagant gifts like telekinesis. <.?.> |

I know this is a really old post, but I would love to hear the rest of what happened, if anything.
Who, if you don't mind saying, is your patron? How long did this event last? Did s/he say anything to you? Do anything (signal)? Did you have any significant dreams after this? Where did this happen, in a ritual space, or in the bathroom? Both mirrors and water are used for scrying and heighten psychic abilities in general. That's why I ask the above questions. People who have patron deities, especially if they only have one patron, usually do identify with them very strongly. It is not uncommon for them to "see themselves" in that deity. Perhaps you were experiencing that in a very literal way? Or it could be the deity acknowledging/accepting the patron relationship. (Is this a new patron for you?) |

forgot i wrote this one.
who was anubis. i'd have to say it only lasted a minute or two. i was in a bathroom at work at the time, so even if it was going to last longer i wouldn't have been able to let it. he didn't do anything then. it probably would have been too much of a shock at the time anyways i don't remember if anything significant happened soon after it was a new deity. if i remember my dates correctly, i was still finding who i was supposed to be in this life, and who i'd been in previous lifetimes. |

So, now looking back on the experience, what do you make of it?
Luckily he wasn't showing up to take you for a little walk Thanks for sharing. Anubis always has been one of my favorites of the Egyptian deities. |

have to be quick because i'm not on my computer, but i take it as the first of many times he's showed to give me some message or another
this is more an edition than an edit. now that i have more time to reflect on your question and not get walked in on by people i'd rather not have know my beliefs just yet. i think more than it being the first time he showed himself to me that i remember (there was probably several time i don't remember) it was his confirmation that i was his from birth this lifetime and i'd finally come around to seeing it his way. i was not so good at seeing the signs when i was truly young. That brings me to wonder do you feel that someone can be bound to one deity, or set of them, from lifetime to lifetime? i seem to have vivid memories of taking part in a ritual binding myself to him some several thousand years ago This post has been edited by Jeremy on Jul 21 2009, 08:34 AM |
