As most of you know im African American and i was reading this as race came into play, this is how he responded

Well personally i hate the term ACTING WHITE/ Black

"Within many of our communities there still remains something that pops up once in a while, goes away for a while, then comes back at you powerful than ever, and that is in the way others view others in their talk, in the way they dress, and in the way lifestyles are done. Emimem, Larry Bird, and a few others have a style that some others, Black or White, view as acting Black or trying to be Black. Then there are many of our Black people who also have their way of talk and suddenly it becomes "He/she acting white".

My thing is this: what in the world is acting black/acting white? Some of us have been raised up by certain standards, taught to speak clearly, taught to even dress well for whatever the occasion is. There are Black students attending what happens to be White institutions, whether they are ivy league, private, or whatever, and there folks are also taught to act accordingly, does not always happen that way, but that is the way things are. So let's get that white boy or white girl and send them into an all Black school, or into a Black community, right then that white boy or girl is probably told long before they get there that certain Blacks talk certain ways, so that boy or girl has to do the same? Come on...does white boy Johnny have to say "Hey Yo" just to fit in? Does Black boy Jamal have to pretend when he gets into a white community? I do not think so.

Being a part of a community does not always mean "When in Rome do as the Romans do/say", it simply means first being yourself, taking pride in what you believe in and who you are. Being in a part of community means coming together once in a while as unit. Certainly, the bads are there, but the bads are everywhere, but as a community uniting, the goods take over the bads. So let us define this thing first: "Johnny sure thinks he's Black; Jamal is acting just like them white folks" My opinion. What is yours? Joseph "

But unless we do the second, necessary, act of leadership, which is to critique pathological forms of behavior with any African American community, our people will be doomed, doomed to perpetuate the class divide..."

When people say you act white/ black is it racism? I think it is just because you have to act a certain way just to fit in with something in my opinion if you are someone who acts like this fuck you and kiss my ass because that shit is gay its discrimination, in my opinion

obviously its possible to act asian and other ethnic groups but these are what come up the most in todays perspective, in todays generation kids think that race is no longer there but it is, i see it everyday and i hate the shit

Well, let me tell you, when I read the thread title, I thought you were talking about some silly fucking "you fit the description" shit.

anyone notice in movies about mixed racial couples its always a White dude with a black girl? Its never a black dude with a white girl? I just thought about this does Hollywood think that a white man can treat a black women better than a black dude could???

Now its possible i mean im not against mixed couples at all,if you havent noticed most mixed girls look really good!!!
Anyways ive noticed this, if you can come up with any movies about a black man with a white girl, like a movie about them not like a movie that may have a mixed couple but the movie is not about them

I live in a place where the population is about 60% black, so racism against black people is a "no-no", unless you wanna get jumped. Cause almost everyone got friends who got friends who have family.

Asian people, we're respected, as long as we're getting good grades, no one really cares whether we act like white or black people.

Race is still an issue in America, contrary to popular belief, but we have to be race conscious, it only makes it worse if you diss someone's race.

About the Hollywood/mixed racial couples thing, it's true. Never a black man/white girl thing. Always the other way around.

It doesn't make sense, people are people no matter what skin color, we all have red blood. What really gets me is why a whole race should be judged because of the actions of one person. Like there's one black thug, the whole race is full of thugs. Shit like that just bugs the hell out of me.
