Currently attempting to make a verson of Dai-Sans stealth D.I.D. game using RPG Maker XP. I'll post a demo, and maybe some screen shots when I finish the initial tests. Bit of a dry run, but so far, it works.

Stay tuned.

Update from tinkering I did last night after I got home from work-
(The information below is from my Test Map)

-Opted to make each room a puzzle, like in the Prince of Persia games. A series of fulfilling criteria to move on to the next room.
-Sucessfully created a "system" of detaining Guards depending on whether or not you have the proper items. (If you do not, there is the option for now to render the guard unconcious)
-Unsuccessful in attempts to make carrying a guard (for now represented as an item in the item screen) slow your movement.
-Successful in creating a system to hide Captured Guards in crates, closets, etc.
-Small complications with current system of items in boxes. Currently retooling.
-Small problem with the Guard accidentally changing sprites when knocked on and then activated. (Fixed)

Things that I will be working on today, and possibly the next few days-

-Experiment with Guard "Patrol Paths" and consequences for wandering into Danger Zones and Guard Paths.
-Find clips of muffled cries of help in low and high pitch to experiment with Sound-based consequences.
-Determine what pictures can be used in the game to make the Capture and Story sequences not so...text based and bland (If anyone is willing to help me on this, I would be most thankful)
-Hopefully begin work on a Demo Level.

(Game Info so far)
Title: The Thief of Virtue
Story: You are Allan Nabbin. By day, a humble tailor eeking out a living in the Matriarchal Society of the Forian Kingdom. By night, you are The Wraith, a cunning thief employed by the local thieves guild to carry out more...sensitive missions, and the biggest thorn in the Queendom's side.
On this mission, The Wraith is sent to infiltrate the guest tower of the Royal Palace to abduct the Lady of Virtue, a beautiful woman and icon of the Forian Faith who's been secretly handed over to a cult as a virgin sacrifice by the Queens Advisor. The Wraiths employers would rather that not happen. And the only thing standing between you and her is five stories of Guards and Traps, any of which to spell the end of The Wraiths career.

More to come...

Update: Bone Dry demo is completed.
-Yes, I can use pictures unlike in past RPG Makers! What I need now is a pact with an artist to create scenes for the Capture, Story, and Failure scenes. I would like to use Dai-Sans art, since it is his premise I'm using, but I know he's a busy art-monkey.
-Borrowed a few pictures from Dai-Sans deviant gallery for use in the option Guard Capture. THey don't match, but fit for the scene, to give a hint at what I'm aiming for.
-The game is simple, and not a lot of strategy is needed, however, I'm still pleased with the results as an experimental game.

If you don't have RPG Maker XP, I can supply you with it, along with the game file.

Here's some screenshots.

I feel that I might as well write the down the story idea I had in mind:

Part 1.

You play as a thief who infiltrates a castle to capture the princess. Anyone you have successfully tied up will remain there after you have subdued the princess. The princess herself is like a regular unit but with a tricker AI and higher resistance.

Part 2.

You play as a heroine who will infiltrate the captured castle to liberate it. Anyone you captured in your previous gameplay will remain in place for you to rescue. You will attempt to evade monsters that the thief on the first playthrough has released in the castle. The second part ends when you have finally subdued and tied up the thief and rescue the princess.

The mechanic is made in a way where the first playthrough dictates what happens on the 2nd playthrough. The more prisoners you rescue, the more bonus you get and the easier it will be when you finally battle the thief at the end.
To get a 100% completion, successfully subdue each and every of the guards in the game without wasting any restraints.

EDIT (This is after noticing the screenshots above): Dammit, now you really have me interested in making this game for real...

But despite my burning desire to add to the project, I am busy with my long list of commissions, an existing flash game and my own personal webcomic projects.
Even before this, I already made plans with BGagger for our own interactive DID...

So many things to do.. so little time. Getting some free time slots may take months but believe me, I'm very interested in this.

Well, Dai-San, anything you can do to contribute is very welcome, even if it's just ideas here and there. Your AI suggestions will take some heavy work, but I'll keep experimenting.

Also, for those who want the Demo, I'm working on setting it up for download now. If you have access to Limewire or some...other downloading service, you can probably find RPG Maker XP on there. PM me your Email address for those who want the Demo.

So, apparently most emails block sending EXE files, and Tripod is being a whore and won't allow it to be downloaded off my own site.

...So, any suggestions how I suggessfully get this to people short of the extreme measure of burning it on a CD and sending it to you people?
