The SightThe ability to see glimpses of the past and of possible futures. A Seer's Sight normally manifests when the child is between 6-16 years of age.
Seers may sometimes combine their powers occasionally in order to have a better view of the future, but only Seers with similar Affinities may do so. That means that a Seer with Water and another Seer with the Fire affinity can never combine their powers. This also means that Seers can only have
one elemental Affinity.
That said, there are certain rules to the Sight, and these are:
- While the Seer may see men and women when they utilize their Sight,
the Seer wouldn't know the names of these people unless he/she knew them personally. An exception to this is when the Seer performs
Ritual Performance to enhance their Sight or the Seer performs
Scrying or
Dream Interpretation for further confirmation.
- When used through Precognition, a Seer's Sight flashes images in rapid succession.
A Seer must first focus their Sight into a particular topic in order for their Sight to be of much use (i.e: trouble in the city). An exception to this is when that particular Seer has
TIER V Precognition, in which case the Seer's Sight is no longer scattered and random.
-
Seers are not always accurate with what they see. Things depend on timing, state of mind (if the Seer is going through some sort of emotional turmoil, then it is not a good idea to be asking help from such), the gods and natural disruptive forces.
-
If they aren't detected early, then the Seer's gift of Sight will be uncontrollable. It'll come and go as it wills and sometimes sweep the to-be-Seer off their feet. There are full-fledged Seers who do Precognition to find these children before their Sight manifests.
The Seer's AbilitiesThere are five disciplines wherein the Seer can utilize their Sight to look into the future. These are:
Scrying - The Seer can see things psychically through a medium. The media used are most commonly reflective, translucent, or luminescent substances such as
crystals, stones, glass, mirrors, water, fire, or smoke. This ability consumes some of the Seer's energy.
Precognition - The Seer is able to perceive information about places or events before they happen with just their
Sight alone. This is the primary manifestation of Sight, and is the first thing any Seer, full or untrained, knows. Precognition is the most costly of all Seer disciplines. The longer one uses their Sight via Precognition, the longer the time it would take for the Seer's Sight to return to a working level.
Interpretation - The Seer can use
dreams, tea leaves or tarot cards to predict the future. This ability consumes the least energy.
Ritual Performance - Ritual performance is used to enhance the Seer's Sight. Only
sacred animal innards, sacred fires, ceremonial incense, sacred water and human blood can be used to enhance a Seer's Sight. Depending on the item, the Seer's Sight may double in effectiveness, or even triple.
Empathy - allows Seers to be attuned to nature, and as a result, are sensitive to presence of people around them, can see their
aura and can tell if there's something bothering them physically and emotionally.
Elemental AffinitiesThe five disciplines they use to harness the power of their Sight revolves around using their elemental Affinity, which dictates what Medium the Seer uses in order to See. The elements are:
Fire - The Seer observes the
flames from a sacrificial fire, a candle, or another source of flame, and interprets the shapes that he or she sees within them. When the Seer is utilizing their Sight, their eye color turns into violent shades of red and orange, flickering like flames.
Wind - The most powerful and rarest of the affinities a Seer can have. By using the very
air around them, Seers can use their Sight. This means that they are the most adaptive of the Seers, able to use their Sight anywhere at any given time, even if they were in the sea (via bubbles of air). When the Seer is utilizing their Sight, their eye color turns into a pure white splashed with gray that move like a whirlwind.
Water - The Seer observes the behavior of
water, including the color, ebb and flow, or ripples produced by pebbles dropped in a pool, a pot or even the ocean. When the Seer utilizes their Sight, their eye color turns into a shimmering blue, with shades of green and black that ebb and flow like a ferocious whirlpool.
Earth - The Seer interprets markings on the
ground, or how handfuls of dirt land when someone tosses them. They may also use the patterns in dust, dirt, silt, sand, or the ashes of the recently deceased. They may also use
leaves. When the Seer utilizes their Sight, their eye color turns into a serene green, with streaks of brown and that twist and turn.
