Well, this just premiered this friday, and it was pretty cool. I don't know much about the original, but I do know that there is an original old show, adn this is supposedly loosely baseed off of that.

There's this guy, Doctor Who, he just says the doctor, and nobody knows his name, so, that's where who came from. He's got this magic telephone booth that goes through time and space, yeah, that part of ghe story is pretty wack, but other than that, it's pretty cool. He goes through time and space, and he tries to uphold the law, according to something I dont know.

The first episode had some kind of alien invade earth, their living plastic and they make every plastic thing come alive and start killing people. That was pretty funny, but it's a pretty fun show to watch. They track the plastic blob down that's controlling everything and kill it, and now you got a lot of traumatized people out there that are afraid of window display dummys.

The second episode is placed about 5 billion years into the future, the earth is abandoned and the failsafes that were put in place to protect it from the supernova sun is about to be removed. Yeah, except the failsafes that are supposed to protect the pople have, well, failed. They gotta go fix stuff befor the planet exploads.

This looks like it's going to be an interesting series, and it'll not be limited to a set story line like so many other sci fi shows are, they could show anything probably on it.

The original Doctor Who was played by many different actors over the years. Each with their own take on the character.

There is nothing wacked about a space/time travelling telephone booth. It is just inherently British in nature.

Everybody seems to have a favorite Doctor and though I no longer remember his name, he was one of the few whites dudes I had seen with an afro.

I was switching channels and noticed that the show was on, but was already planning on watching another program. I did not realize that it was going to be an ongoing series so may yet get a chance to check it out. Do you recall what channel it was on?

The only thing that I noticed about the show was the Doctor appeared to be a short spoken, arrogant man. This may just be his way of showing his self assured, though. bounce.gif

Doctor Who comes on the SciFi channel. For us that's 244, but it's probably different for you. It comes on at 8 PM and 9 PM on Friday (central time) the early show is last weeks episode and the late one is the new episode.

I hear this is supposed to come out on DVD pretty much at the end of the season, July 4th, but won't swear to that. I'd buy it if I had money, cause it's pretty cool.

I was always under the impression the Tardus was broken or something, Because he seems to never know what time he's in. If I was that chick, the first thing I'd do anywhere he popped out, would be to get a newspaper to find out when and where I was.

I liked the episode where the aliens took over Britan, cause Doctor who said it was 12 yours after they left in the first episode, and it was a year later. laugh.gif

I never saw the original, but if it was anything like this, it would have probably been pretty cool.

[edit] Oh yeah, sorry about this being in the wrong forum. I guess I didn't pay attention to what forum I was in when I posted it. Eh, maybe you could move it to the TV forum.[/edit]

Actually I think this series is already out on DVD. My sister claims to have it and loves the show. I watched part of the supernova episode and thought it was great but like the Jason above I was busy with something else. I liked how the last human being was just a strectched out piece of skin... with a face!

Yeah, the last human as a piece of stretched skin on a frame was kinda cool. LOL

And the series is out on DVD now, and I'm sure, if you know where to look you can even get the original series on DVD, I wouldn't mind that. There seems to be lots of props to the original series poping up in this one.
