The Galactic year is 317.

The years, if measured in Old Earth time (OE) is 2487.

Man has long looked to the stars for inspiration, for faith, for guidance. The stars have never answered those questions and likely, never will. So it was that when there came no answer from 'God', that Man began to think of himself as a God unto his own right.

Thus it was that he made men in his own image, and called them 'sons of God'.

Perfect, down to the last genetic code, the unborn children would herald a new generation, without fear of disease, without fear of hunger, without fear of prejudice.

However, nothing is perfect.

The children grew up, harbouring inside them the genetic leaps to the next stages of human evolution. The normal populace who could not afford the modifications to their unborn offspring, feared the children of God and soon, across the Earth, all kinds of genetical experiments were banned.

Later, as the population outgrew the resources the Earth had and the lethal genetical codes had receeded into hoped for anonymity, the decision was made to send freighters, whole colonies into the depths of space in cryogenic stasis. In the hope that when the plotted course met its end, there it would have sufficient resources to terraform and populate planets, with ready-made knowledge and millions of genetical samples from earth.

The remnants of a modified world set off into the unknown, carrying with it those strange patterns already emerging slowly in human society...

Three hundred years later, an area of the vast Universe has come to be known only as the Three Rings. The inner ring contains the core planets, the base systems and cultures that were the original colonisation planets: Ezyai, Jynga, Ehves Prime, Coalition, Randu and the farthest flung Tynce. These six planets are connected by travel routes and subsystems to the Middle Ring, planets of farming and basic needs for the massively populated Inner Ringworlds.

The Outer ring lies largely unexplored. Smugglers, pirates and explorers hover on the edges of the burgeoning human nations and in the blackness beyond, as-of-yet unmet alien races linger. And watch.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Days of War are coming.
As was written in the Book of Words, the Dragon rises in the eastern fringes and with it comes the many winds of change: Good, bad... who can say?
The crippled Ehves empire stands on the brink of collapse after a heartily routed take-over attempt of nearby Jynga, with its heavy jungles and deep dark politics. As it strives to recover, a newer, more tangible threat flows over from the Outer Ring, threatening to stifle the Middle Ring and clamp down on the Inner Ring worlds.
However, at this time of national unrest there also comes a darker warning.
The fragments of code scattered across lives in the human race have begun to find slots to fit into, DNA rebuilding and starting to formulate into tangible powers. In a world where war can spill over at any time, the time of Meta-warriors has finally arrived and with it, the Words of the End...
Okay folks - time I started this. We'll be using the D20 modern system.
I want level 3 characters, no exceptions.
All human, just pick your subrace, ie: Jyngan, Ehves, Tynce, Randu, Ezian or Coalition. (I still have to put up Randu/Tynce smile.gif )
I want you to make an indepth character history (3 or more paragraphs). I will not accept characters of 'story important' value. You're relative unknowns about to become to focus of a new set of stories.
I want to know the following about each of your characters:
Fears.
Likes.
Dislikes.
Quirks.
Motivation.
I will be setting up an extra 'tree' set that you will have to follow, as below. This does NOT affect your character skills in any way.
In the game, you have the option of either being a normal human, a latent human or a meta human. Obviously, whilst many would think (yay meta) the truth is, to be meta you have to take the prestige class 'psionic' for it. However, the other two paths offer something just as good...
Sybernetics ( You can graft 'sybernetics' into yourself to give advantages.)
/
Human --- Latent powers ( increase to one or more skills/stat temporarily)
\
Meta-ware. ( Access to psionic skills )
Pick carefully smile.gif
And remember - it's more liable to get you killed if you choose the dangerous route of a meta-ware. So it depends on what you'd prefer.
Picking which one from the tree you'd prefer to go the route of allows me to make adjustments for future campaigns.
A word of advice: d20 uses action points. However, I think that's a really CRAP way of doing anything. happy.gif so I won't be using action points. You lot are going cold turkey wink.gif
Post your characters here once you have a concept and send me the detailed info (like background and motication) when ready, in a PM.
B xx
