Title: Hanging out with asexuals today

I'm off for an asexual meetup with Michael visiting from London and some other of the local asexual group here in the SF bay area. We are meeting at a cafe and then going to walk all over downtown SF and probably visit China Town. I have never been to China Town. I suspect that I will be the oldest and the only asexual lesbian but there is nothing new in that for me. The majority of the asexuals that come to meetups around here seem to be in their 20s. Maybe a new person will show up today who is closer to my age. I keep going to meetups in the hopes older folks will show up and because I really enjoy hanging out with the 20 somethings despite our age difference. Come to think of it, I don't know how old Michael, the guest of honor, is. I'll find out!

Have fun!! That sounds so nice that there's a regular meet in the Bay Area! :)

It was a fun outing. 6 of us met at the Crossroads Cafe near the baseball stadium in San Francisco. We then walked to the Embarcadero and the Ferry building. We discovered when we arrived there that the park in front of the Ferry building was where the Occupy SF protesters were camped out. We checked out their encampment and then went into the Ferry building to look around. We stood on the dock behind the building and saw a ferry arrive. Then we took off for China town. We got there and were ready for lunch. None of us had done any advance work in terms of checking out restaurant reviews so we decided to just pick a restaurant that had a menu with English on it. That seemed to work. We found a place that had decent food and wasn't too expensive. I had shrimp fried rice. After lunch we searched for the gate to China town and found it. Michael, our out of town guest, took lots of pictures as we toured around town. We then headed back to Market street to see if we could catch a glimpse of the OccupySF protest march. We got there just as the tail end of the marchers were going by. After that I pooped out and said my goodbyes. We probably toured SF for about 4 hours. We adid talk about asexy stuff. Mostly sharing stories of how people react when you say you are asexual.

Cathy

p.s. I did not ask Michael his age but I deduce based on that fact that he just finished his PhD that he was probably in his late 20's or early 30's.
