Hello world! Exciting news indeed - London is hosting *WorldPride* this year on Saturday 7th July, followed by the *WorldPride Asexual Conference* on Sunday 8th July!

This is going to be an amazing weekend! and so I wanted to put the word out on here, and hope UK folks (& others!) can attend!

I am volunteering for the Pride parade again this year. If you're interested in being a parade steward, there's training sessions (very useful, though not absolutely compulsory - the next is on Wednesday 27th June, evening - time tbc). Volunteering for the parade is a great way to be involved, see it all, and meet lots of fab people!

To volunteer for Pride, do register here so they have your details to contact you with info...

For the Asexual Conference, there's 100 places so do register by sending an email to:
worldpride.aces@gmail.com

More info on AVEN: aven

Also, here's the fb page:

Hope to see you there! & feel free to message for more info :)

Envious of folks going to it but I just didn't have enough vacation time to visit UK and visit Mom and Dad and the parents are more important to me. Will be envious this weekend of everyone there!

Bee Happy and Zanzibel, how was the big WorldPride/ Ace Conference event this weekend? I couldn't be there, so I am hoping to see some photos, videos, or articles about it. Any articles/photos about the event that I could see on the internet?

Alright, I saw this thread on AVEN with photos from the event:

In addition, Fricai uploaded a zip file of 50 pictures from the march that you can download from Sendit.

...and some videos here:

Hi CoralSea & Cathy, the WorldPride parade went great (despite the cutbacks made this year, 20000+ people were in the procession!) and there was a wonderful purple Ace contingent handing out info flyers very efficiently indeed (I was stewarding, and could see that pretty much everyone watching the parade had been handed a flyer!). Oh & I got to hug David Jay :D

Then on Sunday, I was actually filming the Ace conference, so I'll be sorting the videos to upload online soon. It was a great experience, to directly see and hear people talking about many different aspects of asexuality, after just reading/watching online about it for a few years now. It really helped things sink in, and I feel I have a much better understanding now. So yes, it's really important to get the videos out there to share with everyone ...oh and (A)sexual, the movie, was great too :D

It was great! I wasn't marching with the other aces (although joined them momentarily for about 10 seconds as they came by ;)) but thoroughly enjoyed the parade. I hadn't been to one before so didn't have anything to compare it to... There was good atmosphere, even if it it was perhaps less 'party-like' compared to other years (say others) ... but I suspect this could have made people focus more on the reason everyone was there and the overall togetherness :) I enjoyed it, and I think the ace contingent felt it was a success.

The conference was fantastic (I also got to hug DJ... twice! haha) and so interesting to hear about people's research and different experiences. It was amazing to meet SO many aces in one place and it was just a very positive day!
