Just heard the news that Sally Ride died today. I never wanted to be an astronaut but I did consider her a great role model for women engineers and scientists!
I was also surprised to find out she was a lesbian. I never knew that. She was with her partner for 27 years! Cool. Cathy |

Dr. Sally Ride, the first American woman astronaut, and an inspiration for young women and girls to pursue science and engineering... what a loss for the world. I didn't know she was a lesbian. According to Wikipedia, she and her partner kept their private life private, which is probably why most people didn't know that.
