On __________ a call was made to the local authorities in Beverly Hills to investigate what a neighbor called "shrill cries" at a neighboring home belonging to Samantha Rain (maiden name Wesley), second wiife (divorced) to oil tycoon, Brian Fitzgerald Rain, who committed suicide over a decade ago shortly after he and Samantha had their first child together, Brian's second child and only son.

After arriving at the Rain residence a squad car containing two officers came upon what is described as a "blood bath". According to authorities, both Samantha Rain, 46, and her son Brian, 10, were tortured and viciously murdered in their home along with an unidentified woman who appeared to suffer the same fate.

But the tale gets even stranger as the Head of the police department reported that there was a vehicle at the residence which was identified as belonging to Samantha Rain's step-daughter, Peyton Naomi Rain, 25, the daughter of the later oil tycoon and his first wife.

"Right now there is no doubt that Peyton Rain, an English Professor at UCLA, was at the Rain residence. The head of the english department over at UCLA confirmed that the Professor never arrived or called in to say that she would be late."

"There is a third unidentified female, but we don't believe it to be Peyton, based on her appearance and age. As of now, what we're trying to workout is whether or not the Professor had a hand in this tragedy or if she was another victim, and if she is a victim there's a good chance that she may have been kidnapped."

"There are a lot of questions and uncertainties, but we are actively working to get to the bottom of this, and given how quickly we we arrived there's an even greater chance that we will be able to find who is responsible for this and bring them to justice."

The follow-up...

"This just in. In under twenty-four hours great progress has been made in the Beverly Hills murders. According to a statement from the Chief of Police, the formerly unidentified woman has been identified as Piper Blake, Brian Rain's first wife and the mother of the missing Professor Peyton Rain."

"We are still unsure how Mrs. Blake is involved or why she was at the Rain residence since she's been living in London for the past fifteen years. However, we have solved why her daughter was there... it seems Peyton Rain received a phone call from Rain residence, whether she spoke to her step-mother or brother or even the culprit behind this heinous crime is unsure. We believe that the Professor, who was on her way to work, instead rushed to her step-mother's home and discovered the bodies of all three victims."

"From there is where things get a little fishy. But we believe that the murderer or murderers took Peyton Rain either as a hostage or with the intent to dispose of her somewhere else. At this point all suspicions surrounding the Professor have been dropped and we believe that she is or was not only a victim but quite possibly the main target."

A memorial service will be held for all three victims this coming week.
