ok, since duct-tape is out for flail heads; and not everyone has the materials/knowhow to sew a cloth head...

anyone have any other ideas?

I just got a can of latex paint and i'm gonna give that a shot...we'll see how it turns out...

try a tube sock, less sewing involved.

socks split to easily either learn to sew or get someone to do it you constantly talk about how much time you have.

i also want to find alternative ways of doing things. i dont agree with the concept of "there is only ONE way of doing it and this is it". there IS some other way of making a flail without the "sting" (I think that the duct-tape method is fine, but too many people on the field think that duct-tape stings when it hits...I can't imagine why considering we use duct-tape on swords and nobody complains about that sting...)

anywho, i will eventually find something else that works...

QUOTE
FLAILS
must have a cloth head
the cloth must run through the core and be solidly attached at the base of the core.
the cord or non foamed part of the head can be a max of 6in
must NOT be able to easily wrap or hook
can not be used if soaking wet.

we had one exception but that flail is gone.

What made that flail an exception? Was it eventually reassessed and then determined to be too stingy?

I'm not sure of an alternative to the fabric method. I am interested to see how the latex paint will fair, although I have a feeling that it might be more stingy than duct tape, especially using paint on that kind of foam.

Not sure if this is what the rules Blue quoted are talking about, but I believe it's different. It does require "sewing," but if you can't sew, why not just use heavy duty glue?
