So here is my first entry, this is the fresh new advert banner for BeyUK =D. It took me about 30 minutes to sort out. I had to take a photo of Libra DF145BS and cut around the wheel using the pen tool. I then added in various textures and decided on text placement. Hope ya'll like it =D.

Nope, they are textures that I made myself. I don't use brushes in the majority of my work. I prefer to keep raw copies of everything I use. So hence I make everything myself.

I'm very much old school in that sense. The Beyblade was cut out from a photo I took, the MFB logo was a good clear copy I made of JUST the logo. The texture is as stated above just paint I splattered onto paper and scanned.

You can get some good affects from watering down paint and making random jerks of the hand with a paint brush =D.

I understand. I never use custom brushes either, but I should try that paint idea ...

You can get some wonderful affects from using it. Just splat black paint onto white A4 paper and scan it at 300dpi (as your probably aware).

Make sure your pallete is set to black as your primary colour and use the colour range option in Photoshop if your familiar with it. If not then don't hesitate to ask. You then form a selection of the black area, you are then able to adjust the solid colour fill =D.

I like the new banner a lot. I like how the words were place. I don't know to much about graphic design, but this design is very attractive.

*hi5 for the pen-tool and hi5 for using raw textures*

I'm too lazy to make my own textures xD Anyways, good balance between text and images, good typeface, easy to read and stands out. Though something is bugging me about it, but I can't think what it is xD

I'll get back to ya when I figure it out lol, but good job dude.

From a more critical point of view though, I believe the image of Libra and the faded Metal Fight Beyblade logo do not fit with the rest of the banner. The logo gives it a rusted look, and it just seems bland compared to the rest. Had there been the Face, it could have looked more attracting. Right now, it does not match the purple and red background.

I also think something could be done with the text, whether it is the colour or the fact that the font is made of capital letters.

This is all 'friendly' by the way.

No, I understand where your coming from. I was trying to use the colour green as it is Libra's "colour" but I could get it working. I syill have the raw PSD for this so I can always go back to it. I will photograph the Libra Face and remove the MFB logo. I will also take a look at the font as well. The White test was left because it was going to be blue or red because these are the "BeyUK" colours because of the UK if you get me. I will look at this later today though =D.

EDIT

This is the adjusted banner. Have changed various parts of it. I have left the original up as well for comparision. Further thoughts are appreciated as always =D.

Now that I look at it, I think I may edit the levels on the face =D.

I hope you do not mind what I did :

Just to show you that it is not the Face's colour that needs to be edited, but what surrounds it.

The text was too green against green (although the background does match more now), so I added some yellow to it as a reference to the Face.

I see where your coming from Kai-V. In my opinion, the yellow that was added makes it too bright and harsh on the eye.

The face of Libra still looks too bright so I will adjust the levels as it looks out of place.

I will edit the banner now and post up again.

I still think the green and the blue should be brightened or accentuated on the Libra Wheel.

This is anoter (lol) new version. I have taken your comments into consideration. I have adjusted the opacity on the orange that encloaks the text so as the text stands out less, I have also reduced the stroke to size 2.

Regarding Kai-V's comments. I have used the brush tool to brighten the blue and green sticker sections of Libra Wheel. I then adjusted the opacity so as I kept the texture and reduced the obvious brush use.

Any further comments are appreciated. I have changed my forum signature to the last version so as comparision is easier.

I think in this version I have got the balance between image and text better than my previous versions.

Definitely better, but I am hesitant about the brightened blue : it might be exaggerated, yet it refers to the "BEY" in "BEYUK".

I can dim the blue down if need be, as said, I have the PSD and it is easilly changed =D. If you think I should change it then I will change it. When it comes to artwork, I like to have things looking their best =D.
