Crew: driver, gunner, and? One man too many, logic-wise.

No transport capacity given. Also, if it's supposed to move men fast, swap autocannon into heavy bolter, at least it'll be shot on the move.

I did this a few time ago:

Name Points Front Armour Side Armour Rear Armour BS
halftrack 66 12 10 10 3
Type:
Light Vehicle
Size:
Normal
Speed:
Normal
Weapons:
1 x Storm bolter
Special Options:
Transport 11
Open-topped
Vehicle Category:
Transport

quite the same idea of a cheap transport tank.
your version looks too much like salamander to me: the autocan is a bit big for this kind of tank, the best in term of look would be hvy stubber, but it is too costy for this tank.
As well the rules for hvy stub stink.
NB: i put 11 pple because the program doesn't allow for 12

70 pts and you just get a weaker chimera... Hm your choice, but the point of a halftrack is: it has to be cheap IMHO.
maybe we should just use the FW rules for DKK transports.

Hell anyway, let's do the models first and then argue!
maybe i overestimated the front armour as well.

For the long barelled hvy boltr i suspect you want something against smurfs. this is very bad! my opinion is there is enough weapons in 40k without inventing anything else
but well as long as your opponent accepts...

as well i should appologize for submitting my version in the subject: i should have done mine, but at that moment didn't feel like making a new subject.

edit: fast vehicle shouldn't be allowed for ground vehicles IMHO, it is the only desareement i have with FW.

i think the figure should be smaller in order to gain mobility in cityfight and in hevy covered ground. (hm my sentence is very bad: i hope you understand)

No weapons, just open top it and let the guardsmen do their thing. It'll be cheaper and more half tracky.

I don't know... even the most basic transport has a machine gun. Unless it is a truck, but this isn't a truck. Given that you want to focus on rapid deployment I think open topped is a good idea and the lower armor (11x11x10) will help keep cost down also.

I agree with zdog. Atleast give it a heavy stubber or heavy bolter or even a storm bolter me thinks happy2.gif Like a ww2 german half track Sdkfz 251/1

I though of something similar, since the new codex came out

make it 50 points fast and 11/10/10 bs 3 and give the option of heavy botler or the autocannon.

drop the transport to 10
make it a dedicated transport for any infantry squad

Yeah, something like that.
But it should be really cheap to be worthwhile.
Remember, the Chimera got a massive dump in points cost with the new codex.
Any alternative should be either better, or much cheaper.

I can't see a half track being in any way "better" than a chimera, which is well armoured and armed for an infantry carrier in the 41st millenium, and according to fluff, pretty fast too at 78km/h on the road.
Halftracks generally aren't much faster than that, so the speed should be the same, although having it as a fast vehicle isn't that bad either.

I'd say 30 points if normal speed, 40 if fast.

I think the idea of a Half-track APC is good. Nice and appropriate. There are a couple of issues I see. First, Chimeras allow so many of its crew to fire out of the vehicle that open topped really doesn't gain much. Second, for what is proposed a Rhino is better protected and crewed and comparably armed... so the Rhino should serve as a starting point for the vehicle. The base cost for the half track would be 25pts before any abilities. Fast would bump it 5-10pts at the most. It maybe faster and less armored, but it shouldn't sacrifice its armaments down to just a heavy stubber. I think the Heavy stubber should be upgradable to a heavy bolter for 5 points, and I think it should be upgradable to add two heavy stubbers for 15pts; since additional machine guns were often mounted onto halftracks and trucks for convoy duty.

I don't think inventing new weapons for it makes sense. From a real world practical view a utility vehicle like a halftrack or truck would be created to be more disposable. Giving it a fancier weapon than standard issue gets in the way of its dissposability.

I think this is more appropriate

Dedicated Transport
Satyr Half-track - 35pts
BS3, front11, side11, rear10

Type: Half-track, Fast vehicle
Crew: Driver, gunner, vehicle commander.

Transport: 11 soldiers

Weapons:
Heavy Stubber
-Maybe upgraded to heavy bolter or heavy flamer for +5 points

2 additional heavy stubbers maybe purcahsed for +15pts; treat as sponsons

Options:
All vehicle upgrades from the imperial guard armory.
