A Hydra Autocannon is a single twin linked weapon that fire twice per turn. The Hydra mounts 2 of them, for a total of 4 shots. The weapons are longer range than traditional Autocannons and have AA capability.
The Exterminator mounts a unique design twin linked autocannon that fires more rapidly than the "traditional" Autocannon. It is twin linked AND fires 4 shots. Its range is limited to the traditional Autocannon's range. Are you asking why GW did that? |

Simplifying, because one is a dedicated flak-vehicle, while the other is... something that was supposed to be a "fast" MBT mechanics-wise, I guess.
