QUOTE (D503 @ Apr 10 2012, 12:49 AM)
I declined using the words Chinese use to pass on a tray of offered food.

We'd appreciate if You'd quote that phrase, one never knows when it could be of use. Or when a chinese expects one to pass the food on armata_PDT_25.gif

Anyone who doesn't know how the four Chinese tones work would butcher it. Get the tones wrong and it could mean something totally different or simply not make sense.

Or if D503's phrase is Mandarin, it might be lost on the majority Cantonese-speaking Chinese who emigrated from China and Hong Kong.

Is anybody else struggling to find painting motivation lately? I have three tanks and a chimera to get done but I just can't seem to give a damn lately.

Qing bie gei wo (object)

Very simple chinese, very formal. Please don't try to say it without studying mandarin as you would absolutely butcher the pronunciation as it is written in romanised mandarin, not English. Chinese is not a language where you pick up a few phrases to impress people, as if you say the tones OR pronunciation incorrectly, you can can end up in severe trouble. Like the time I called my friends wife a gay man.... Or when I asked a receptionist to lend me her mother's c**t. Oops.

Thanks armata_PDT_01.gif

Am well aware of the pronounciation traps, but sometimes it's easier to get help on this than to find out what to pronounce.

Semper, I am in the same boat. I think it has to do with my painting table just covered in three inches of crap, and I have no room to paint, or motivation to clean.

Man, I can relate to that. The bench is so covered in crap it has no expanded onto the gaming table itself. I can't do either without committing a neatness first right now. *hangs head*
