Hi.

Thinking of using the following as heavy support in a game in the future:

Exterminator, lascannon
Exterminator, lascannon
Eradicator, plasma cannons, lascannons.

The idea is the exterminators pop transports and stay mobile, and the eradicator sweeps up the disembarked beakies with plasma doom.

Thoughts?

Plasma doom? You mean the Executioner then? If so, I used it a couple of times, but found the short range of the main gun a problem, when trying to support a unit on the other side of the table. Unless you have another, longer ranged, big gun, I'd suggest trading it for a standard battlecannon.

Yeah, thats the one.

Sorry, I always get the names mixed up.

For a regular game, I find the range on the gun to be quite acceptable

Are these in a squadron together or separated?
I have had extremely good luck with the executioner with plasma cannon sponsons. It is great for two wound model squads. Its got great armor its just not good for killing heavy armor itself more of an infantry support vehicle. I tend to take the las cannon as well just to make sure I have plenty of ap2 nastiness, unless I am going to be on the move then I take the heavy flamer as I will not get to fire more than the main gun and the 1 sponson and if its danger close the heavy flamer does wreak most troops.

Exterminator and Executioner combo for the win.

I prefer the Heavy Bolter on the nose, as the link (Leman Russ, a complete idiots guide) says, but that is for the reasons so enumerated.

The Exterminator does excellently at popping the light transports. The 5 blast markers will wipe out most of the enemy squads, but the Heavy Bolter assures that any surviving models are hit (if not killed.)
