So here is a question...

I am about to do a 2 vs 2 team tournament, and I am looking to save points. If I take a Primaris Psyker, and only a Primaris Psyker, as my HQ choice, do I have to take a command squad as well? I would use Vets as Troops, so no worries about a platoon of dudes.

The primaris psyker (or a lord commissar) is a stand-alone HQ choice. No CCS is necessary for a legal list if you instead take one of those two (or Yarrick).

The most recent FAQ also states that we may use a techpriest or a priest as our hq choice, the only bad thing is that you can't attach the techpriest to a squad as he's not an IC.

Actually, I just realized that its cheaper to do a bare bones command squad at 50 points than to do the other HQ options...

The Commissar Lord or the Company command (tooled out to actually get anything done adding a vox link couple assault weapons, maybe a mortar )comes out to about the same as a commissar lord with a power weapon. The 2 options both have valid points I prefer the CCS for the extra bodies.
The Primas Psyker is a waste at best for you will fight MEQ they will take a Librarian and that means you will not get a power off til you drop a template on him til he goes away.

IF your group allows IA your best for the points the salamander at 55 points is the cheapest hq choice
