I like the old lascannon + heavy bolter sponsons configuration; sometimes you just need more AP value than what 3 heavy bolters can give you, and I like to have a fallback option if I know the 'cannon won't crack it.

Personally i like to switch it up between the lascannon hull and HB sponsions and HB hull with HB sponsons. It depends on who im playing. If i didnt know id have to use the LAs Hull and HB sponsons. Just because its all round.

Lascannon on the hull and Heavy Bolter sponsons.

It makes it an all around tank. The power to deal with big and little enemies. armata_PDT_34.gif

Tripple heavy bolters all the way.

And a heavy stubber is a must.

The Leman is an anti-infantry tank. thus i arm it as such.
when you an't fire the cannon [lost it , your own units to close , or the enemys to well spread. ] firing 12 shots at them with heavy bolters and storm bolters is a wounderfull feeling.

Other units in the army are anti-tank [The Vanquisher , Support squads , LasCannon command squads.] and so they carry out their role , while the russes do theirs.

Lascannoned armed russes cost more , and a single shot [That'll only hit half the time.] just isn't worth it when you wasted the other options.

i totally agree with itzaak, and the battle cannon work wonders agains armour armata_PDT_22.gif

i think that an odd lascanon wouldnt do, well, much... 50%of hitting, generally 2+, to wound giving it a 42.6666 chance of killing infantry...
and an average of 4+ to penetraate armour, and again damage chart, giving it a total 12.5%chance of doing anything.... not much..

Well, I have one with lascannon only, and one with 3 HBs. I preffer to arm my MBTs with a purpose in mind. The LC Russ goes after vehicles, the HB Russ after infantry. At any rate, both tanks are flexible enough to target most things that comes creeping across the board.

Lascannon and heavy flamers.

why?

Cos I think it would rock. It has a weapon for every circumstance. I don't use tanks though, so I am likely to be quite wrong.

In the rare case I use a tank I go for 3 heavy bolters + stubber combo. As Izaak mentioned, it's best as an antipersonnel tank, other units can take much better care of the vehicles.

it might be an anti personel tank but if you stick a lascannon on the front of a 14 armour tank along with the anti-infantry weapons and the cannon it tends to draw a large amount of ineffective fire.

Even when the cannon is destroyed the majority of players will continue to shoot at it with most to all thier HW.

I find tanks to be more of a "Oh My god an Guard tank1 Blow the Sh*t out of it!!!" kinda thing. happy2.gif

Hull weapons don't come into play until the Battle Cannon dies. HB all around costs the same as single LC. You get 9 opposed to 1 shot. All of your weapons that remain, after your foe has killed your Battle Cannon, have the same role and purpose. HBs have the best range AND firepower. Mixing LC with HB is kind of useless, as the LC is the only weapon on the hull that is a tank killer. Heavy Flamers have been discussed already and their suckiness is well known.

My number two is just HB nose. Why waste points on your non-important weapon?

Because under current rules sponsons increase tank's lifespan - there's great difference between getting 150 VPs for destroyed Russ or just 80 for a crippled one.
