Forum Rules
1 - Use of the English language: Lot's of people complain about rules like this, but we have a good reason to have it. No body wants to spend their time trying to decipher your post because you didn't take the time to spell check. Besides this, many of the topics we speak on here are hard enough to understand as it is, and sometimes all it takes to ruin our ability to understand your post is the misspelling of one crucial word. It's OK to misspell a hard, foreign, or archaic word, but don't be offended if someone eventually corrects you - it's for your benefit so others can more easily understand you. Also, net-speech is banned. Many of our members speak English as a second language, and I am yet to see an American-Net-Speech to Romanian dictionary. If you want people to take you seriously, then make the effort to keep your posts readable.
A note on spell checker: Never automatically trust it. It can tell you when a word is spelled wrong, but it's not the best at figuring out what you are trying to say. Sometimes it will guess things that are way different (you type in my last name, Margrave, and it assumes you're trying to spell "margarine"), and sometimes if you're one letter off it will have no idea what you want (if you spell "experiment," as "expirement" then it won't even suggest any words starting with "e"). 2 - Personal Flames: This forum is here for open discussion. Obviously, some of these discussions can become heated, but this is no excuse to start filling the board with personal attacks. If you have a problem with someone, PM them or talk to an admin. 3 - Deleted/Closed Threads: Do not restart threads that have been shut down.Besides being disrespectful to those in charge of the forum, it's just plain stupid. If a thread got closed or deleted, there is a reason for it. If a thread got shut down and you think you have a good reason why it should be re-opened, PM the moderator / admin who did it and maybe you'll be allowed to revive it. 4 - Zombie Threads: Speaking of reviving, if you are going to resurrect a dead topic (one which has been inactive for over a month), then you had better have a good post. Most of the time when I see zombie threads, the reviving post is something along the lines of, "Lol." It's fine to revive a thread if you have something to actually say about the topic that isn't just a re-hash of old comments in it, then you are entirely welcome to revive that thread. Sometimes it's good to have someone take up an old discussion with new views, but don't revive them for the sake of pointless comments or speaking directly to the original poster if he's not here anymore. 5 - Post Placement: We've got sections here, and a place for just about any post you can think of. It's a simple rule; try to keep things in the right section. If you're not sure about where something goes then you should either ask someone like a mod or admin, or just post and don't be alarmed if we move your post to a new section. 6 - Adding to the Discussion: Posting "lol" or a smiley face as a reply is a waste of space. If you're going to post, it should actually add something to the discussion. It's fine to get silly like that in goofy threads or personal threads (assuming the original poster doesn't mind at all), but if you're going to post in a serious discussion you should make sure your post is worth reading. 7 - Being Polite: No racial slurs, no derogatory comments about someone's sexuality or social status, none of that junk. If you think what someone says is stupid, then you may say that what they said sounded stupid (so long as you can explain why this is true. Try to be helpful), but no calling any of the members themselves stupid or anything of the sort. Also, under no circumstances may you call someone's religion stupid just because you disagree. 8 - Nothing illegal: Simple enough. Don't do anything illegal on this site. We won't hesitate to notify the proper authorities. 9 - Don't evade ban: We don't ban people very often so if we banned you we must have had a pretty good reason. Rather than trying to sneak back in, why not just e-mail one of the admin? If you have a good reason to let you return we will do so. 10 - Mature Content: If your thread is going to contain mature material, always place a warning in the topic title or topic description. Failure to do so will most probably result in the thread being deleted. If you are not sure if someone qualifies as mature content, please PM one of the admin or post it in the questions forum. Mature content is not just anything sexual, but also things which are violent or pertain to things which are illegal such as drug use. There is -no- pornographic material allowed to be posted at any time. This is an InvisionFree rule and we have no control over it. 11 - Spam: Spam is not allowed on this site, either on the forums or through PM. Advertising your site without permission or being an established member will result in being banned.
