yeh, where do you get daphnia? And how do you induce utricularia to grow?

Sorry this is so late. :D

Local lakes and small ponds would be a good place to start for daphnia. Many are small and will need the aid of a microscope to see. I got some from my college. My Bio teacher let me get some Azolla from their stock pond in one of the green houses. Azolla is a water fern, and in the bucket were also daphnia. I'm not sure hwo many are left I haven't checked on them, but the azolla is growing fine. Now for the untics not growing. I recieved 5 different plugs of uticsularia and planted them in media that was supsended over quart mason jars so I could view the traps growing down into the water. Well this worked great for a while, but then everything started to decline. So I did a little reading and come to find out even though these are small plants they like to spread out and do not like being pot bound. So I potted all of them in clay pots and now keep the clay pots in standing water at all times. All the utric have had a growth spirt and all look much better than they did. I hope someone else can help you better as I am still a newbie with them, but Tamlin said even the tererials like to be grown with water levels up to the soil surface.
