I just compiled some photos of various stages of one of my N. rajah growth and I thought you might like to see them. The first is a photo from the day I received it from the CP Jungle.

For the first two years I grew it in my freezer grow chamber, but it grew too big for the freezer. A little over a year ago I built a highland GH for basically this one plant. I made sure that when the GH was finished it would have near optimum growing conditions. I use a misting system that keeps the humidity above 75% at all time, but it is almost always above 90%. The misting system also does all my watering and it is just tap waster. I have half the GH cover in a 60% shade cloth and the N. rajah is grown under that half. I keep the daytime temps at a maximum of 78 F and the nighttime lows are about 40 F on the coldest nights of the year most other night are about 50 F. The last time I repotted I used 100% LFS. The first time I potted in that 4” pot it I added a little perlite. It is still in that 16” round pot like it the last few photos. As soon as I get my courage up I have a 24” pot that I will put it in. The N. rajah is now 34 inches or 86 centimeters.
Thanks -------------------- |

Very Nice plant! Now I just have a few questions. What are your outside temps during summer? I know your in Colorado. I;m in GA and I would like building a highlander GH for some cool growing orchids and the highlander Nepenthes, but my summertime temps are often in the 100's during the summer, and just want to know how you keep the temps loow like that during the summer months. I thought about a wetwall, but that doesn't drop the temps enough. I thought about a air conditioner, but that would cost to much. I don;'t have experience with a swamp cooler, but I heard they don't work good here. So I am just curious as to how or if I could build a highland GH here in the heat of GA. Thanks!!

It worth the money and effort you put in to grow rajah when you see the beautiful pitchers. Nice growing.
