The Theory of the Matrix, No seriously, think about it.

Okay, I'm being completely serious here. In the movie "The Matrix" the human race has been utterly destroyed, except a few thousand that fled. This was the result of the human kind pushing technology to the extreme and trying to create highly advanced A.I. or Artificial Intelligence. Is mankind's obsession with technology going to backfire?

It probably will happen. There have been many movies about it happening. We make them too smart, too strong. They start thinking for them selfs and realize that they are superiour to us. Then, theres even the possibility of someone medling with the AI programing and controling them to take over the world, or start another holicost or something along those lines. Humans are too infatuated (sp?) with technology and they dont realize the dangers until it is too late.

Yes, that is also true, Tim. But if you really do think about the fact of A.I. becoming so advanced, that it'll coincide with us and start thinking for many. Who is to say that A.I. will start to adapt and create a more intelligent being. It's not really too far fetched.

After all the movies and books and media that talks about machines taking over the world because humans are too stupid to control them, you'd think we wouldnt ever do it, but watch it'll happen, and I'll laugh at the fuckheads who are still alive during that timeperiod.

I think we'll develop some kind of technology that will allow us to use 100% of our brains instead of just 15% and we'll have the brain power to control them no matter what.

look its all fine and dandy just sitting here talking about it but the truth is it could seriously happen and if or when it happens we will all be in a world of hurt and with how fast technology is advancing it wouldnt surprise me if something like that did happen i mean we already have AI's not that theres many of them or that there capable of doing much but theres a good chance that they will be advanced to a piont at which they can cause harm and the possiblity will be there all that has to happen is a broken circut or someone tamporing with it and a robot snaps and kills all of us.and evrything ends with no happy ending but a very sad one indeed

Very valid point, indeed. We do infact have at this current time developing A.I. (Artificial Intelligence) and they are becoming more widespread. Those behind the development of such creations are governments of a variety of countries, militaries around the world, scientists and private organizations. Although the current A.I. is still at the level of "child" comprehension and it's ability to learn, that's still a bit startling to some people.

At our current rate of technological advancement, it really won't be too long until we see an A.I. system that is that of about or above the average human being. But the A.I. has one major advantage, it doesn't die, or at least won't "die" for a long time until it's shorts out. To think, about 15 or 20 years from now (an accurate prediction by various resources) that we will have humans exploring the face of Mars, and a small outpost on the moon. I think it's even easier to believe of what A.I. will be.

i doubt it would be considered a theory....

i had this weird ass dream that could relate to this.. sorta...

so i was dreaming.. and then i found myself with a remote with a button for the name of every planet on it and if pressed the button for the planet it would blow it up, i was told to now blow it up... but i pressed buttons until only the sun and earth remained...
so i blew up the sun OBVIOUSLY... then i blew up earth.. and i felt paralyzed and i was transported to another galaxy and i could see i was being transported there... yeah.. it was really weird
but i was thinking.. what if we are the ALIENS that we say are out there in space... and that the UFOs that we see are moving lights that were sent from a different planet when we once inhabited the planet.. since you know it takes a long time to see light and what not. like a star that burns out...

so maybe the thought of alien beings is embeded in our head because we remember something about our past... i think its possible.. because we always pass down things with our minds.. so yeah.. this sorta fits in here

So you're saying that from our ancestors before us, and that their memories were somehow genetically embedded into our minds, and that is the annomolly that are misinterpreted as UFO's?

Hm, that does sound somewhat plausable. Although, I believe in a day where there will be conflict with technology. At the ever increasing rapid rate of which technology expands into the unknown is here and is continuing on. I think it's very likely in the not so distant future where there will be a major or at least a minor conflict between man and machine.

It makes sense though. Our military is becoming more mechanized and computer systems are starting to take a huge role in many of it's tasks. Now, such dependence on technology gives us our edge from the rest of the world, but, we'll start incorporating much more cutting edge technology into "the war machine" (essentially, the military). Soon we'll have AI guiding us in army tanks, planes and ships. We'll also have advanced system recalculating human error with missiles and targeting system. Who is to say that one day, it'll turn on us when there exists an advance enough AI. Now, I'm kind of talking about both the "Matrix" and "Terminator" type, but it isn't too far fetched. Think about it a bit, and you'll realise, it's pretty possible.
