I have recently acquired a 1953 CJ-3B with the serial number 453-GB2 13718. The engine number is 4J13999B2. It is dark green in color with what looks like gray seat covers....or very very faded black ones.
The Jeep has a PTO unit that includes the gear box, drive shaft, and control unit, but no drum or governor. The PTO unit also has what is left of a very bent guard on it.
The wheels are 16" and are painted body color. It appears that the Jeep and the wheels have the original paint.
The Jeep has a clear title with the correct serial number in my name, originally the Jeep was from Illinois. The Jeep went to Pacific Missouri around 1959 or so and was used around a farm there until 2009 when a guy bought it and sold it to me a few weeks ago. The Jeep appears to be all original with the exception of a 12 volt conversion, tail lights, and a clock added to the dash.
I was going to part this out and use it for a 3A project but I just cant bring myself to part out such an original Jeep with a perfect title.
So if anyone is interested, I will sell the whole thing for $1100 or $800 without the PTO.
Head over to the CJ2A page forums and check out the "Moral Dilemma" thread in general discussion for pics and more info.
Thanks,
Jared
Jared,
How solid is the tub? How good are the fenders? Does it run?
Thanks

One of the fenders is great and I would use in a heartbeat, the other is good but has been dented and straightened on the front...if you were good with a hammer and dolly it could be used again.
The tub is pretty rusty. The floors are gone, hat channels mostly need replaced, dash has an extra hole cut in it for a clock, and the tailgate is very rusty. Passenger side could be fixed with about a dollar bill size piece of metal, but the drivers rear corner has been bent out pretty bad. If you were really ambitious, and wanted to install full floors front and rear, you could save the tub.
Windshield frame is ok but heavy surface rust, grill is good with the exception of one of the bars is slightly tweaked at the bottom, grill could easily be reused.
Seat frame on passneger side is perfect, drivers has heavy pitting on the rear brace, and I also had to cut the rear foot off because it was rusted to the floor pan and I couldnt get it loose. If you werent real picky you could repair the leg I cut and use the drivers seat frame, but you would see the pitting due to the exposed back of the seat.
Engine is not running, odometer says 29K miles and I have no doubt that is correct and what the entire drivetrain has on it. Motor is froze up.
Frame is really good except for some pitting on the rear rails, but nothing too bad. Front frame horns are perfect and never been welded on, has four holes drilled in the top of the frame rails for a bracket to bolt on, but that is it. Front bumper is just slighlty tweaked on one side, but really decent. Rear crossmember has heavy pitting and would need replaced in my opinion.
PTO unit is complete with controller, drive shaft and box.
Wheels are are really good and original 16" with original paint.
Under hood has all original brackets and clamps, oil bath breather, etc. Only departure is a 12 volt alternator. I really think the only things changed were the alternator, rear tail lights, and a clock added to the dash. Everything else, and I mean everything is orginal. Most of the rubber pads were still there when I removed the body from the frame!!
I opened up the tranmission and it looks perfect inside. The reason I took the top plate off was someone had welded an extension to the cane and I have a replacement and am in the process of replacing with a factory style correct cane.
Transfer case clicks nicely from all ranges.
Original hubs on the front.
Do you have a way to send some more pics of the tub? I'm trying to decide if it's more repairable than mine.
I wouldn't repair the tub....but I will take some more pics and let you decide.
I will sell the Jeep without the PTO for $700
Do you still have this? I am VERY interested and don't live too far away.
Please contact me if you do.
