The Great Willys Picnic, Car Show and Swap Meet

June 10, 2012 from 9 am - 4 pm at the Wanamaker, Kempton & Southern Railroad
located in Kempton, Pennsylvania
http://www.kemptontrain.com

It's time to plan for the 13th annual Great Willys Picnic, Car Show and Swap Meet. All vehicles are welcome: stock, modified, projects, CJs, Wagons, Trucks, Jeepsters, Military, Cars and even GPWs! Every pre-1970 Willys vehicle is eligible to win door prizes. This show has grown into the largest Northeast Willys event. Over 45 vehicles and hundreds of enthusiasts were present at last year's picnic. There is plenty of space for selling your spare parts in the swap meet area. Bring your Willys memorabilia and interesting parts for show and tell. Be sure to arrive early because at 3:00 PM the door prize winners are announced and awarded. Bring your own picnic lunch or purchase food at the refreshment stand.

The Picnic will be held on the grounds of the Wanamaker, Kempton & Southern Railroad located in the scenic village of Kempton, Pennsylvania. This is a great setting to display our classic Willys vehicles, as well as entertainment for the entire family. Also on-site is the Schuykill & Lehigh Model Railroad Club's HO model train display.

As always the Willys Picnic, Show and Swap is free. Plan to take the optional train ride for a very reasonable fee.

See the website for up to date Picnic information.

I'm planning another trip from Maine. Don't know what's going onto that 26' trailer yet, but have been urged to bring some Al-Toy Models. Lots of fun last year, probably the best one day Willys Show I've attended. The variety of special equipment is fantastic and we are indebted to the organizers for making this available.

Be sure to mark The Great Willys Picnic on your calendar now. This show/swap has grown into the largest Northeast/Mid-Atlantic Willys specific event!!

Bob W - May 13, 2012 01:08 AM (GMT)
Less than a month to go!!! The show is going to be bigger and better this year. We are also having more awards. In addition to the "normal" best of show awards we will have "project" and "most original" categories. There will also be random door prize drawings for anyone who brings a Willys. Bring whatever you have, even if it's not done yet!

VIC543B - May 14, 2012 11:28 PM (GMT)
Im local to this years picnic. If anyone is interested, Im headed to breakfast in Kutztown, Pa prior to the event. Its a really small diner, but all good and 15 min south of Kempton. Well, maybe 25 in a 3B.

Going along with what Bob W. said, if anyone has any other questions about the area, shoot me a message.

Anyone else local?

Dave

This year's Picnic was fantastic!!!

Bob W - June 14, 2012 12:27 AM (GMT)
What a Great Willys Picnic we had this year. Many thanks to Seth King and his entire family for making this year's Picnic the best ever! The sky was blue and the sun was shining on 65 registered vehicles plus many parts vendors and tons of spectators. The Wanamaker, Kempton & Southern Railroad was the perfect venue for our Willys Show and Swap. I spoke with enthusiasts from Maine to North Carolina to South Africa and many places in between. Hopefully everyone had a chance to take the train ride and see the Schuykill & Lehigh Model Railroad Club's HO model train display. We also had two different Willys PTO driven buzz saw demonstrations during the day. Near the end of the day trophies were awarded in seven different categories to Jeep owners. One lucky person went away with $56.00 from the 50/50 drawing. Many random drawing door prizes were given out to the vehicle owners. After the awards we did a Willys Cruise around the beautiful Pennsylvania countryside. We are planning to have the next Willys Picnic on Sunday June 9, 2013 at the same location.

Special thanks to this year's sponsors.
