Hi, I'm a new member from South Florida with a 62 Dispatcher with 87K miles. It used to belong to my uncle when I was a kid, and after a years search, I found it very oxidized from being stored under a tarp in the Florida sun and humidity for 16 years, but complete mostly.

I intend on a makeover with some mods so don't hate me. Besides, it'll make parts available for your projects, like 15" rims and hubcaps, recovered seats and maybe other parts too in the near future.

I've enjoyed the site comments and findings before joining. If I can figure out how to add pics, I will. It's in pieces right now stripped of everything but the tub.

I've yet to drive it but hope to be doing so by summer. It's going to be a driver/cruiser just for fun with an emotional attachment along for the ride.

Thanks to Bruce and Colin for referring me to the site, and their very useful inputs along the way.
Happy New Year to you all, and until later, Cya...SteveK

Welcome to the board......Check out my DJ with doors thread for an unusual DJ project driver... I drive it around the yard most every day when I am home, still have to wire up all the lights so I can put it on the road..

If nobody else has put in dibs, sure would be interested in the hubcaps..

Oh, and we really like pictures here too if you want to put some up! biggrin.gif

Steve
Welcome Friend! I am looking forward to you sharing with all, the mods planned on your Jeep. I did notice your shock mounts seem to disappear from your frame. The count is getting down just a few more to find.
I can post your pics if you forward those to me. You have my email address

Hey FBill,

Thanks for your response. Sorry for the delay. I've had some setbacks keeping me from the Dj project.

As to the hubcaps, My preference is to sell/keep the rims/hubcaps as a complete set. If I have to keep them, I'd want to have both together as they came.

That logic may change once I get my project on the road if it's not too late then for your needs. Time will tell. Good luck with your many projects.

Bruce, I may have to take you up on your offer to post my pics as I can't figure out how on my own yet. Thanks! Cya...

Diggin the groooovy plaid seats, man... tongue.gif biggrin.gif

That is a great start! My vote is to go stock, but that's me.. ANd if I have to buy the wheels to get the hubcaps, if and when you are ready, send me an email. What are those tires? (Mfgr and size)??

I have no clue what that 361 is doing there on top of the engine number..

Looks like something is holding the hood up.

That would be a fun jeep just cleaned up a little!

Thanks Bruce for posting the pics. Easy to see the details at that size.

Interesting question FBill. The tires are Dayton Thorobred Premium 78. F78-15 with a molded stamp of (HXVT-HNK496) which I believe means they were produced 4/96, after my uncle owned it (made in Mexico). Tho the tread is almost like brand new, the dry rot cracks are numerous and some quite wide. Large size Valve stems are perfect still, and even the tires hold the air pressure for over a year already.

The spare is the real charmer to me. It's a Gulf Crown Nylon tire. (My uncle owned a Gulf Gas Station) It's a 7.35-15 and "Made in USA". The mold stamp is (D67 DA498-3) which indicates made in April '67... and not a single sign of dry rot on it. It still holds air perfectly! Can you imagine those in the landfills? They don't make em like that anymore.

The rims do have the KW stamp in the lug area, and are 15X4 inch size.

The plaid seat covers were done by PO and are like new. They would go with either blue or green shades if anyone is interested. Both fold forward.

The hood is actually crushed down as stuff was stored on top of it before I got it. Right fender and side have damage from what appears to have been from an in-a-ditch off road situation. Oxidation on ALL horizontal surfaces and all rubber dry rotted. Otherwise solid and complete.

Sorry Historians, it is getting some modifications and upgrades. It's intended to be a driver/cruiser fairweather fun maker. I hope you'll like the results some day any way. Probably 6 months from now at least.
