F Bill Being that you are the Guru on the dj's, I thought that maybe you could clear up something for me. I have an aquaintance that restored a dj. I was quite surprised to see that it had a 2a windsheild on it!! I was sure that the early dj only came with a 3a windsheild?? Please help!! -------------------- somedays your the windsheild--somedays your the bug

I'm far from the guru, I just hang out here more then the rest of the guys like BA and Glenn and Colin and Oldtime. All are more knowledgeable than I .. I might own more DJ projects than they do however..lol.
Anyhow, any flatfender windshield can be bolted to a DJ, but the 3A and 3B style frames are the most common factory frame. A 2A windshield frame with the tubular arms and the flip out split pane glass would not have normally been factory installed. Sure would like to see some pics, and I am sure the guys would like the numbers for the database. -------------------- 59 convertible 15933 needs drivetrain

All my jeeps are projects....only runner is my DJ with doors.. |

This fellow has at least six units restored that I saw. If you look on page 13 of the Kaiser Wiilys new catalouge, you will see three 2a's and a 3b by Al Appel.
By what my other friend told me, I think that Al is around 75 yy. I'm not sure if he want's any attention or not, so I wouldn't give anymore particulres at this time. I do know that he has besides the ones pictured, the dj, plus a 55 or 56 cj5 that looks like showroom. I saw about a half acre of jeeps in the "bone- yard", and according to my other friend, Al has another building with about a half-dozen flat-fenders that are to good to restore, and to good to leave in the bone -yard outside. When my friend Carl took me there, I thought that I had a dream, and woke up in Jeep Heaven!!! At this time, he is restoring an FC150! Sorry, but I cannot reveal the hideout until I check with Al!! -------------------- somedays your the windsheild--somedays your the bug
