Hello Jax,

Looking good! I like that rear bumper with the receiver hitch---it gives me some ideas about what to do with my rear crossmember! You are really moving along---good for you. I haven't had time to myself for the last 2 weeks to work on mine. Next week I hope to get back in the shop. I've got some work to do on my '64 MGB to get it ready for the new driving season. Of course, your whole year is a driving season, you lucky dog! Thanks for the update. Gary

Thanks Gary,
Yeah moving along now. Waiting for a few sunny days to put down the base coat epoxy primer. In the mean time doing the tweaks & adjustments; clutch brakes, steering, looking for leaks, painting small parts, hinges, bumper, brackets etc.

If you moved the pictures on Photobucket to a different folder or file after you posted them, then that original link is not going to work.

I hope you get them back up. I did enjoy looking at them and I wasn't finished. biggrin.gif

It's a thing of beauty! You and all of the other rebuilders are a huge inspiration! Thank you for all the great pics!

Now if I could just get that farmer to part with my grandfathers 57 cj3b, I could start my own rebuild. (it's buried in his barn and has been for the last 25 years)

Hello Jax,

Man, you are moving right along. Your 3B is looking excellent! I like the color---it looks like a Ford color, is it? What kind of paint did you use? If it is single stage, you are a great painter! Any runs (or what I call "extra paint--no charge"!)? C'mon, you can tell us! Seriously, you are making great progress---thanks for the update.

Best regards, Gary

Hi Gary,
It's been awhile but moving along once again. I must confess I can't take all the credit for the final paint job as I'm very aware of my novice skills w/painting ninja.gif so I called in my friend "super Dave" to help. The final color was inspired by the original Willys green & a 1977 Ford F150 4WD I had years ago that was a Jade Green Metallic. I've always thought those dark greens looked right on a 4WD. Couldn't find those colors locally so the closest I found was a Toyota Dark Green Mica from Shopline, (PGP Platinum Distributor) at the local Auto Value parts store. We applied 2 base color coats w/2 clear coats over. The paint gave two epoxy primer options for final effect, either a grey, for a lighter brighter green (a little too much "Bling" blink.gif for me) or a black, which I chose because it looks darker but shines out, just a little, on the curves & edges in the bright sun. That primer was a "Bear" to hand sand out for the final paint-220,320,400 grit to a baby smooth finish.
I'm very happy with how it came out &... Yes....of course there was a little "extra paint--no charge". A little run on the tail gate but, lucky me, its right where the 4-Wheel Drive logo goes!! There is also one small glitch on the front fender where the only gnat within 100yds of us found its way onto the clear coat dry.gif !!! Not to worry I'll find a way to fix it.
Thanks for all the compliments & encouragement along the way.
Aloha, Jax
