Is there a list of vacuum wiper motors that will work/fit with a 3B? In particular, a 3b with a ventilating windshield? I want to put one back on but I can't seem to find a listing of model/part numbers so I know what I am looking for.

Thanx in advance
Warren

The 3B ventilating windshield uses the exact same wiper motors as the 3B stationary windshield.

Referencing my parts list, I could only find one listing for the vacuum wiper motors so I was interested if there was additional info on this. Ken's post confirms what I'm seeing.

GROUP 31-03A WINDSHIELD WIPER Vacuum Operated
671921 Motor, windshield wiper (Vacuum)

For Dual Wiper use, there's a different number
672778 Motor, windshield wiper 120*, cleaning arc

While this may not specifically help in locating one, its interesting to reference for application.

My "go to" lately for used parts has been Harry Sheets (there are others referenced in several lists). Also, the WiperMan has reconditioned units (or can rebuild yours).

Make sure you get the mounting spacers and the correct arm and acorn nut.

Yes those are the correct W/O numbers.
671921 RH motor
672778 LH motor

Originally the vacuum motors had a large Trico model number stamped onto them with yellow ink.
The various Trico model numbers for all CJ's begins with an "S".
Hence Trico calls them "S" type motors.
I had some of the Trico numbers recorded but I can't seem to locate them all right now in my big pile of scribble notes.

Can anyone else find those yellow ink markings on their old motors ?
They should be located externally on the paddle chamber.

That's what I'm looking for. The Trico numbers. This is supposed to be for a 3A:

SF-634-1

I'm trying to sort out what model will fit my unit properly... I'd hate to drop a few bucks to find out something doesn't fit... I don't mind if I find one that doesn't work but I'm pretty sure I won't be able to core a unit from a 45 Pontiac to Walcks :-)

Thanx again

Warren

I believe the SF-634-1 is CJ-5 wiper motor # 689794.
Outwardly the CJ5 motor appears identicle to the CJ3 passenger side motor minus the chrome swing handle.

GROUP 31-03A CJ wiper progression (1945- 1971)

TRICO MOTORS
Trico motors for CJ-2A, CJ-3A and CJ-3B have a small chrome swing handle.
Trico motors for CJ-5, CJ-6 don't have any swing handle.
Models 3A and 3B use the same identicle wiper motors.
The LH (only) CJ-3 motor has a "U" shaped tube connection.
All other Trico motors have straight tube connections

#663636 Trico motor # SF 583-27 L+R (with small chrome manual swing handle).....CJ2A
#671921 Trico motor Left (with small chrome manual swing handle).....CJ3A, CJ3B, DJ3A (open)
#672778 Trico motor Right (with small chrome manual swing handle).....CJ3A, CJ3B, DJ3A (open)
#689794 Trico motor # SF 634-1 L+R (without swing handle).....CJ5, CJ6, DJ5, DJ6, DJ3A (RH only with metal enclosure)

TRICO ARMS and BLADES
For CJ-2A the wiper blades park toward the right side.
For CJ-3A,B the wiper blades park to the center of the W/S.
For CJ-3B with ventilating W/S (top mounted) the wiper blades park toward the outsides.
For early CJ-5 with Trico motors the blades both park toward the right side.

#663368 (7") arm CJ-2A
#663367 (9") blade CJ-2A

#671137 (LH) arm CJ-3A,B
#671138 (RH) arm CJ-3A,B
#685780 (LH) arm (ventilating W/S) CJ-3B
#687924 (RH) arm (ventilating W/S) CJ-3B
#671041 (8") blade CJ-3A,B (note: 9" Trico blades will fit)

#689789 arm CJ-5,6
#689795 arm (ventilating W/S) CJ-5,6
#689790 blade CJ-5,6

The conversion from Trico vacuum to electric motors varies.
The change begins as early as 1967 on some CJ's and all CJ's have electric motors by 1969.

#973358 single speed electric motor/ top mount (begins as early as 1967)
#977343 two speed electric motor/ top mount (begins as early as 1968)
#978529 two speed electric motor/ bottom mount (begins as early as 1969)
#981364 two speed electric motor/ ventilating windshield only (begins as early as 1969)

I finally found a number, and it was on this board after all, an old post of YJCanibul's that has a shot of his wiper motor - SF-616 (no dash anything), so now I have a number...

Thanx for all the info. It's been added to my notes...
