Derek, Wow, I'll bet you spent some time colorizing that photo. I knew it was black and white right from the start and it really shocked me to see it in color. Great job.

Thanks Bob. Yes, it took a morning I could have better spent posting some of the Owners Photos I have waiting, or updating the CJ-3B Database. But it was one of those things that once I started playing around with it in Photoshop, I couldn't stop. Plus, I really wanted to grab the attention of any mail Jeep fanatics out there, because I would like to find a photo of one of those six 1958 postal CJ-3B's.

I would like to find one of the actual jeeps! That would be cool.

Great article there Derek. Excellent job on the photo!

I sure many will hate the idea, but, there are still some right side drive Mahindra CJ340’s kicking around in the UK. A US Postal Service makeover of one these would be relatively simple to do, and look really cool. Not too many two wheel drives one's though.

Just wish I had the facilities to take it on.

Great photo and story as usual Derek; (red, white & blue theme however may have been better to save for July, ha!). Please keep up your fine work no matter what you choose to amaze us with as it's always enjoyable and a sincere pleasure to view.

Yes, when I insist on confusing history by creating fake documents, I always try to include a link to the authentic original source right beside it. The trouble comes when the fake is posted without permission or attribution on other websites.

For example, when I did this fake photo of Willys engineers doing the drawbar pull calculations for the CJ-4 project, I included a link to the original photo at http://www.film.queensu.ca/CJ3B/Photos/Lit...strialCover.JPG

I later took this photo off the website because I thought it could be too misleading. But many people will enjoy seeing that long-obsolete tool of math and engineering, the slide rule.
