eBay SAHARA props

I saw them. Does anyone know who this "taz26-12-76" fellow is that is bidding and winning just about all of it? He's got some serious change to play with. My guess is that its a possibility that he may be a dealer buying up a lot of the props in the hopes that he can sell it for more of a profit say, a year from now, especially if the movie is a hit.

The collector bug attacked me with full force. I tried to get 1 thing that was a signature item worn or used by each of the main characters. I got:

one of Al's "New York" shirts
one of Al's Green Berets
Dirk's brown "wifebeater" t shirt and black vest he wore on the calliope
Eva's grey bag (as shown sitting by the well)
A toxic waste container (as shown in the same scene)
One of the wood pistol boxes given by Massarde to Kazim
One set of wall decoration clippings/stickies from the boat
the dirk and Al football picture from the opening scene
the Dirk picture with the Cobra

From other ebay auctions I got:

a couple of autographed photos showing the actors with those items

the 6'x4' bus Kiosk poster
22"x27" posters - plain and the one announcing the release date

orange T, bandana, and hat
black T, bandana, and hat

Green sahara T

the jeep promo mini poster (theatre giveaway)

I plan to build a display shadow box for these items, and to do it up properly I still need to get an autographed copy of Sahara......

That's ok, I finally won a NUMA patch and framed it so it's hanging ove the door in my shipwreck room. Whenever get stuck on an idea for writing I just stare it. It helps!

I was able to get one of Dirk/Matthew's sleeveless t shirts, a turquoise necklace worn by the Dirk stunt double, a "gold" coin (not one of the CSA ones), and a little statue of a sailor from the Martha Ann scenes.

I also have a sleeveless brown "dirk" shirt. I know there were several of them....wonder who has the rest ?

Hmm, I wouldn't fill one out quite like MM does, but I sure do love sleeveless shirts...

I wish I could get ANYTHING from the movie...I would love something of Dirks...say his watch...I wonder who got that or if he got to keep it?....

I'm betting Matt got to keep that. And if he didn't, he probaly fell in love with the Doxa and bought one for himself anyways!

I wonder how much they want for the ship prop? Can we morgage our lives for it? :lol:

During the opening credits, as the camera sweeps around Dirk Pitt's "office area," you can see a car magazine open and folded over. A 1974 Jaguar convertible is circle in red marker as though Dirk was considering buying that car.

I got the actual magazine from RareProps off eBay, so that's my little piece of the Sahara film.

I got a coule of dive masks.. one of them brand new. They were listed as 'set dressing'. Also the large desk calender with 'LAGOS' and 'AUSTRALIA' highlighted, and it has days crossed off in red 'X's'. There was a post it note that 'Al owes Dirk $87.00', and some nautical charts... stuff from the opening credits.... all in all some neat stuff (for a fan, anyway!)

I'll do up a nice frame for it all.... am still debating on the 'gold' CSA coins...
