"Australia" star Nicole Kidman is moving on with a new film project, "The Eighth Wonder (2010)". The 41-year-old has been reported to be attached to star as well as produce the action adventure movie from "Mr and Mrs Smith" screenwriter Simon Kinberg. Still, what character Kidman will be portraying is yet to be shared out.

Though much details of the storyline is closely guarded, it is said that the story will resolve around an archaeological discovery that sets off a globe-spanning race. Kinberg who is also touted to direct the movie is said to pen the script in fall. On the film itself, The Hollywood Reporter (THR) described that the film produced also by Laurence Mark is aimed to be "a character-driven, treasure-hunting thriller".

THR also noted that Kidman and Kinberg supposedly should team up years ago when the Hollywood actress was set to topline "Mr and Mrs Smith" written by the scribe.

I would be more excited about this if Mrs. Urban hadn't recently been voted the most overpaid actor in Hollywood, owing to a long string of pricey flops that she headlined.

Still, it sounds like exactly my kind of movie.

The "wonders of the world" include things like the great pyramids of egypt, etc (I'm really not sure what the others officially are) but to say in english that something "is like the eigth wonder of the world" or to say something like "he acted like it was the eight wonder of the world," that means that the thing being discussed was perceived as being of some great mystery or importance (as if comparable to the other great wonders.) That's common colloquial talk.

I have no idea what any of that means.

But The Seven Wonders of the world were monuments identified by contemporary historians as the most impressive architectural accomplishments of the ancient world. Seven was an arbitraty number, often associated with divinity--there could have been just Three Wonders, or Twenty, but they went with Seven.
Seven Wonders

But my guess is that the Eighth Wonder will be somekind of unifying mystery, similar to what Matt Reilly did in his book Seven Ancient Wonders.

I'm kind of glad this post came up again because it looks very unlikely that this movie will be releaed in 2010. It is listed by one insider website as "in development" which means there are people working on the script and it has a green-light for production, but no filming has been done.

The one interesting thing I did read is that the producers plan to create a franchise with this movie--they likened it to doing for Raiders of the Lost Ark what the Bourne movies did for the spy (Bond) genre. Sounds good to me.

I almost posted the same sentiment about Maha's statement, Sean, but had to refrain from losing my patience. She has written similar postings that are not even related to the topics she posted in. p:
