Title: Bonhomme Richard
Description: 2011 Expedition

whitbycolin - July 2, 2011 12:02 AM (GMT)
An e-mail from Dirk signalled the start of this year's expedition to locate the ever elusive Bonhomme Richard started in Grimsby as in previous years. Its first leg was uneventful yet the opportunity to shake down yet another new ship.

The ship a 27m long offshore vessel has been up in Grimsby since last October for a ground up over hall, and is a partnership with Rich Stevenson one of the Ocean Dancer team. He is quoted as being "very pleased with the results, less so the bill" lol

The ship sailed into Whitby a week ago but only for the one evening and then again a couple of days ago on an overnight stop.

I expect it back in a few days when I aim to get over in person.

Hello Juanita

Without taking you away from this website, I would encourage to view the pages I have about Clive's North Sea Endeavours which include a page detailing the infamous sea battle John Paul Jones.

This years search is a little different in that the new vessel is only stopping overnight in Whitby to refuel and replenish supplies. Dirk was only here briefly to see how the different ship performs and has now returned to the US.

Ralph, the side scan sonar specialist has told me that the searches have thrown up some new shipwrecks, but nothing thus far about the ever elusive Bonhomme Richard.

I have added another photograph taken early one morning before she sailed.
