Has anybody read any of them?? i saw them in Books a million the other day and was wondering if anyone had read them?

I've read all of them and cannot wait for the next one to come out.....hopefully sometime before I retire in 17 years. They are of the same mold as Dirk Pitt, Juan Cabrillo and Kurt Austin but from the angle of geology. The supporting cast is very strong and enjoyable.
I highly recommend them.

Agree 100%. They're very enjoyable and it will be great to have a new Mercer book out. I generally will look for and try a co-authors book to see if I like them figuring they're probably pretty similar to the main author I normally buy.

I have them all - bought over two holidays in Hawaii - and have read Vulcan's Forge and The Medusa Stone. Took VF away with me on the second trip and bought the one book I didn't have ...TMS. I usually try to read in order but enjoyed VF so much I had to go straight into TMS.
Enjoy!

so which book do i start with?
coach2709 - December 5, 2011 03:35 AM (GMT)
1.Vulcan's Forge (1998)
2.Charon's Landing (1999)
3.The Medusa Stone (2000)
4.Pandora's Curse (2001)
5.River of Ruin (2002)
6.Deep Fire Rising (2003)
7.Havoc (2006)
This is the publication order but I read them out of order. It didn't hurt the flow of reading as most are pretty much stand alone. There are some references to previous books but nothing really major.

They're much like Cussler in this regards. Wonder when we'll see a new Mercer book? Ideas?

I think the only way we'll see a new Mercer book is if Jack gives up the Oregon books.Like Blackwood did with the Fargo series. He realized he wasn't going to get the opportunity or time to write his own stuff. The publishers have a golden goose with these books and they want them pumped out faster and faster.
When I talked to Jack at the Cussler Con in 09 he said he was working on a new Mercer but didn't have a date in sight for it.
I got the impression he was getting frustrated he wasn't able to work on it and all the publishers wanted was the next Oregon book
I hope it's soon,it's been 5 years since Havoc

Jack has been working on a new Mercer book between Oregon File obligations. He shared the working title as being Sample 187, but that was last year and I am unaware of its current status. Pretty sure we will see another Oregon entry before this book. I do know he wants to honor his Mercer fans with a quality entry and not rush to publication. I suppose the old saying "all good things come to those who wait" applies in this case. Kerry
