Raise the Titanic. Prelude April 1912. This opening still hooks me every time I look at it. Just awesome. I think I've read this one chapter more times than I can think of.

Anyone else have an opening that they found amazing as well and if so - which book?

I always liked the opening to Treasure. You can smell the dust and feel the plodding weariness of the scholar. Then the desparate running battle of the Legionaires. Was their sacrifice in vain? We don't know. Cut to modern day.

Sahara also. Loved the civil war and Lincoln twist.
