	This has been a Smackdown for the ages. I suspect next year, there won't be much room at all for the minor leaguers.

	If you haven't been keeping up with the Smackdown, it's been much bigger this year than last. Brad Thor pounded Greanias, and David Golemon beat James Rolllins, though both had a ton of votes. Today is my day to get pounded by Scott Sigler. I have a lead at the moment, but he's a west coast guy, and once he wakes up and sends a single Tweet, I'm toast. That said, I'd love to put up a good fight, at least for a while. I hope you'll cast your vote for me: The Megalith Smackdown

	Well, I survived another round. Thanks for the support. Today is Scott Sigler vs Stacey Cochran, and the votes are pouring in for both of them. I suspect I'll have a tough time against whoever wins, since that's my next opponent.

	And lest anyone forget, Greanias won the whle shebang last year. He's already posted it to his FB page, and is leading. This won't be an easy round by any means.

	Cool. I didn't realize that about Hunt. In regard to your analogy- Do you think there are enough relatively big-time authors 'showing up' for the smackdown that they should just cut out the 'no-show' guys, or would that just turn the contest into a small press showdown? Personally, it was cool to beat a major author like Ted Bell, though it was quite obvious that he maybe didn't even know about it, and certainly didn't try to stir up any votes.

	I think the appeal of the smackdown, especially for writers like myself and Dave is that it puts us, ever so briefly, on the same playing field as some big names. Granted, it's kind of...well, let me put it this way. Imagine if I were to create a sporting event called the Spectacular Bowl, in which I invited NFL teams and High School football squads to come and play. There's an off chance that one of those NFL players might show up, but odds are that a lot of varsity teams will win by forfeit. Anyway, on to Gabriel Hunt... Actually, even though I got an excellent blurb from Mr. Hunt for my upcoming book, he's an entirely fictional presence. The Hunt series was created by Charles Ardai (aka Richard Aleas) who is the creator and editor of the Hard Case Crime imprint. The actual books are each written by a different author, including Ardai, western novelist James Reasoner (who also gave me a blurb) and Raymond Benson, who wrote among other things, several James Bond novels. I don't expect many Hunt fans to show up for this, so my money's on Jeremy for an easy win. But I've been wrong before.

	The Smackdown has been decidedly lacking in suspense these past few days. Scott Sigler took out Jack DuBrul, and Stacey Cochran is running away from Robert Masello. Cochran is very web-active, whereas Masello is more traditional in his approach to writing and marketing his work, so not a huge surprise, though I consider Masello to be highly underrated. Tomorrow matches two very different authors. Sean could fill you in on Gabriel Hunt better than I can, as I think they've corresponded. What I can tell you about Hunt is that he brings a strong flavor of the old pulps to the modern adventure story. Jeremy Robinson's work is more along the lines of James Rollins- quick pacing, lots of action. He's also a great source of support for budding authors, and I've certainly benefited from knowing him. I'll be casting my vote for Jeremy, but you can't go wrong with either author! The Megalith Smackdown
