It really is heartening to know that you can contact Clive/Dirk and they will take action. Good people.

Excellent news! Hopefully this new editor will catch both the continuity/consistency errors AND the grammatical ones that have become prevalent in recent books. thumbsup.gif thumbsup.gif

  Good news indeed!

By the way, has anyone picked up on mistakes made at Putnam on behalf of other authors in their stable? Surely this ongoing fiasco is not limited to Cussler.

This is good news. Any one of us could have done a better job than the person that was being paid to do it. laugh.gif

I'm pleased to convey that I got a nice note from Dirk Cussler in response to my making him aware of editorial issues - i.e. character inconsistencies - timeline inconsistencies - omissions - spelling & punctuation - that have populated the recent books. He indicated that both he and Clive were aware of the wave of emotion riding amongst the fans from this and had forwarded my note to their agent.

The bottom line is, Putnam has agreed to assign a new copy editor to review Clive's collected new works, with a focus given to continuity and consistency.

This is great news - Putnam has basically stepped up to the plate and hopefully we will see the results improve this current shortfall.
