RTT is outdated? Nonsense. None of Clive's early work is outdated, my freind. For example I found it very easy to turn RTT into a modern story when I was doing my fan script. Same with Night Probe. I think that in a strange way these book were written to be compatible with every new generation that reads them. They never grow old.

That being said, here's hoping that we get more movies. Including RTT, in the near future.

Actually: Using Rodriguez on the basis of ONCE UPON A TIME IN MEXICO, Spy Kids, From Dusk till Dawn, etc is a very good idea, especially on the strength of ONCE UPON A TIME in MEXICO...

Which was, slightly modeled after Sergio Leone's "Once Upon A Time In..." Series of films, actually I think there were two, OUAT in the West and OUAT in America.

I think Rodriguez would be a great Dirk Pitt director, as he has shown he can juggle: And Juggling is what the PITT director needs to be able to do.

Now: I can tolerate a few things: I can tolerate Matthew McWhatsHisName as Dirk Pitt. I can take Zahn as Giordino: I am also a blonde haired Italian (so forget I used the name Qin Shang ahaha) That guy who played Rudi Gunn was kinda a combo of Hiram Yeager and Rudi, but he worked for both or either. The best piece of casting was of course Sandecker: PERFECT.

I can deal with those things right there, but James V Donnelly/Oppenheimer/Richards can go suck snake eggs: They SUCCCKED.

Give the screenplay to Quentin Tarantino and let Robert Rodriguez direct: We will have one a$$kicking Pitt moovie. Tarantino is yet another who has proved he can handle multilevel/complex characters and storylines: Which is what is required of the screenwriter for any Pitt novel.

Now, the duo of Tarantino/Rodriguez we are familiar with due to the graphic quality of their work. But I think that would be a boon for any Pitt book treated by those guys. Rather than the Wimp Arse treatment that Mr Mini Mickey Mouse Eisner gave Pitt. So, I think that Rodriguez would be a great choice for director. Eisner was the worst choice: He was BAD,BAD,BAD.

When I saw SAHARA sitting there on the Blockbuster shelves, I was shocked: WHEN did they ever get around to doing a Dirk Pitt moovie? I hadn't even heard of it. So I was unaware of all the controversy surrounding Sahara: You know... If Clive deliberately torpedoed the film? He did a good job: Cos most of my friends and relations are avid and rabid Cussler Addicts. So for ME to never have even heard about this, meant that Cussler lifted 0 fingers in promoting it... Else I would have been standing in line on opening night. But I do not think Clive "Torpedoed" the film, he just refused to lend his credence to it. On the strength of Clive saying nothing, the film fell. And I will not pander to anyone and say, Oh, well I liked it: I did NOT like it: I was shocked and disappointed in it:

Well, now we have shills trying to torpedo Clive. Some of them have found their way into here, maybe. Shills hired by agents of that Jer|<0ff who destroyed the film by not doing what Clive wanted: Philip Ansbutt. So the guy is a Christian, EH? If he is a Christian then it is the worst possible example of how a Christian is supposed to act.

I used to operate a large BBS owned by a company that hosted MP3 files for private artists, and I had to stave off the shills from another competing MP3 site every day (Who I used to work for as well). It was like I had to spend about an hour deleting all the shill posts: This was back when you could actually figure out where someone was posting from via IP address. Well, that don't work no more.

So, I won't point to anyone and call them a shill, but I know they are here, cos it is big buziness. And the only reason I came here today is that I kind of stumbled in here, and I am in the middle of reading Inca Gold, and I just read Atlantis Found and Flood Tide (And I loved the crook from Flood Tide, especially the way Dirk dealt with him- Haha!)

I want NO more Pitt Moovies if there are the pi$$ poor quality of RTT and Sahara. And regardless of the outcome: I want Clive to WIN.

So I kind of act as a reverse-chill and I go the the blogs and boards where they are slamming Clive and I give it back to em as best I can- It's the least I can do for Clive.
