CIA Director William Casey was doing some research on Dirk Pitt's early years and had just finished reading up on Dirk's battle with Delphi Moran in Greenland where the venomous man had been killed seven years ago and came across a mention of Dirk Pitt's famous grandfather, Matthew Pitt, who had lived in Dayton, Ohio too back in the 1840s as a boy before he started his lifelong career of explorations and his journalistic career of writing about his travels and war correspondence, and erstwhile businessman who would disappear in a plane over the Himalayas in 1944 at the advanced age of 104. Recalling something he had just read over an hour ago about Dirk Pitt's involvement in the search for the Vixen 03 affair and the African Army of the Revolution back in the early 1980s brought to Casey's mind a mercenary who had fought in the African wars of the 1970s who had grown up in Dayton, Ohio. Though Director William Casey would die the next year of a brain tumor, years would pass until the 2010s when Dirk's and Jim Martindale's paths would cross and the two would battle with each other.

	2007. After an exhausting amount of research and interviews done by both Michael Sansom and Dan Forrester, they agreed to meet and collaborate on a book together. Poring over their materials, it was obvious they had a lot of work to turn it into book form. It would be well into 2009 when they finished and another year and a half to find a publisher. Once it was published, it was given critical acclaim but only did moderately in sales. The book was nominated for a Hugo Award and won because the few other books nominated were not as well researched and written. THE END

	Having inherited the title of Master of the Black Ops Brethren after Lothar Loring passed away back in 2026, it was only a matter of time, figures Ananias X. Stagg, that it would take him to concoct a World War for the opportunity to gain power. But, like all wars there was only one winner and one loser and though it cost many lives, the war had dragged on for several years, testing the resolve of the President of the United States, Nathan LaMontaigne. The man rose to the occasion and with a strong resolve to not only bring peace but to ensure a lasting one by forging a vision for the world.

	The Master of the Brethren, Ananias X. Stagg was pleased with the draining resources from all of the countries involved in the war, with the exception of the United States of course. Somehow, the war industries had pulled the U.S. out of an economic downturn and were working with NUMA and others in developing advanced technology that has kept the Chinese from causing much damage to the Americas. After talking with one of his CA agents that keep tabs on field agents, he turned off the Video monitor and took off the mask that he wears when communicating with a CA. Ananias Stagg was pleased at the weakened countries where his field agents were sweeping many people into his control. Despite efforts by the Allies to thwart his plans, Ananias considered his organization as a powerful force on the planet. Even if the Allies win the war, it would still not be enough to stop the Brethren. Ananias Stagg even had a plan for the post-war period. If you looked at Ananias Stagg, he would look so ordinary that many people didn't pay much attention to him. Standing at 5'5" and Dark Hair with a hint of gray coming in and hazel eyes that did not show any hint of the evil that belies the man's true nature. Up until the year before the war, Ananias was just an Civil Engineer/Geographical Information Systems expert working for the city he lived in. After graduating from Stanford University he had gone to work for the CIA, getting some experience in Intelligence operations and then after nearly ten years he was assigned to a desk where he accumulated a lot of information on all the countries of the world. After nearly 20 years in the CIA he had retired and gone to work in Public Administration for the city he lived in. After half a decade working for the city he had quit to go into business for himself, selling his experience and knowledge. Arno P. Drakkenzel, the Russian High CA for the Brethren was itchy to take over his country when the war ends but was still in his position of Military/Commercial coordinator. It was his job to make sure the big contractors with the Russian military provided all the weapons, supplies and Aircraft on time and with little to non-existent repair work needed. It was his recent conversation with the Master of the Brethren that he learned that he had the support of the Master for his plans to take over Russia when the time comes. It was not easy getting the contractors to deliver enough materiel for the war because of the lack of supplies needed to build all of the Aircraft, Munitions, Guns, etc.... The war continued on until May of 2036 when all the nations that were involved were exhausted and lost the will to fight anymore after all the deaths of over 2.5 Billion people and the destruction of the war that had occurred would take generations to repair. A change in the leadership of China finally brought about a peace treaty with the United States. Ananias Stagg was mightily pleased with the destruction of so much and was going to reap profits through the reconstruction efforts. Despite severe destruction West of the Urals in Russia, Arno Drakkenzel promised a rejuvenated Russia if he was elected and indeed won election as President of Russia. President Nathan LaMontaigne was looking forward to going home after the election in the fall and the inauguration of a new President in January of 2037.

	The man with pince-nez spectacles and a bow tie strode into the reception room outside Carrington Pitt's office in the NUMA building with authority. Felicity Harrington, the secretary looked up and cowered at first before recovering and asked the man what his business with Carrington Pitt was and if he had an appointment. "Yes, I have an appointment and will not wait out here another second" and walks into Carrington's office. Carrington Pitt, a tall blonde woman who carried herself with confidence was startled and taken aback at the man's ferocity and arrogance. "May I help you sir?" she inquires. Seating himself in the chair without a handshake or introducing himself, he opens his briefcase and takes out a stack of paper and plops it on Carrington's desk. "Mrs. Pitt, I am Clark Edwards with the IRS and would like to go over some details with you on a project that NUMA was involved with over 20 years ago where there appears to be some inscrepancies in the tax forms of said project. This project was a joint project with the British in the English Channel back in 2006 and an investigation of the collision of two ships that had occured March 7, 1889 involving the Canadian Wooden Barque, The Vandalia and an English Iron Ship that was owned by the Ducal Line by the name of the Duke of Buccleugh. The conclusion of said investigation confirmed the original court decision back in the nineteenth century but with some new revelations that both ships were negligent and blinded by the conditions of the sea as to the lights onboard both ships. What I am here to do is bring some mistakes in the following tax forms that are atop the stack of papers I just gave you. If you would take a look at those forms please and confirm for me that your team did indeed perform a sloppy job of reporting the expenses involved". The IRS indeed would not have brought up the matter if it had not been for the Black Ops Brethren in retaliation for NUMA's involvement in the Mothman fiasco back in 2026-2027 and had taken their time in finding something to bring against the people of NUMA. Without realizing the consequences of their actions the Brethren was to face their ultimate battle for control of the planet. Indeed, it was the Chinese consul in San Francisco that had learned of the manipulation of the IRS and found it intriguing that the IRS could be so manipulated. Through coded messages electronically beamed back to China, the National Security Agency had just cracked the newest Chinese code and learned of their message. At the same time, another message that had been sent electronically from the most secretive Chinese intelligence agency, the Guojia Anquan Bu, had sent a message to Mexico City of their plans to help Mexico by providing money, munitions, materiel and logistics in the upcoming confrontation with the United States. President Nathan LaMontaigne, after being briefed by his National Security Advisor, Adrienne Cardonelli of the coded messages that had been broken by the NSA ordered his legislative affairs aide to ask Congress for a secret National Emergency Fund. Adrienne, after returning to her office learned from her Deputy NSA that Russia had just made a pact with China. Stunned, she sat at her desk for a full 10 minutes before calling the President. With a major war already in Africa things were looking grim, Adrienne thought. Before it was all over, she realized that there was going to be a World War. In an alliance of major African powers, Egypt, South Africa, Angola and Nigeria were aligned against weaker states that had sided with the ancient Atlantean descendants while the Brethren had brought together the major powers. A bloody war that crossed ethnic and religious lines was growing in intensity. The European nations along with the United States were dumbfounded and despite efforts to bring about some peace talks, were at a loss as to what to do and were afraid of getting too involved by siding with either camp. It had not been difficult for the Brotherhood to infiltrate the governments of the major African powers with people who would follow the agenda set forth by the Brethren and had manipulated the whole affair with finesse. The European nations began to bicker over the trouble spots around the world and were afraid of getting involved. Germany started to push her weight around because the Brethren were targeting many vulnerable bureaucrats and politicians and agitating them. Chancellor Manfred Albrecht Koonan was a member of the Brethren and was doing everything he could to stir things up among the other European leaders. With Russia announcing her alliance with China against the United States, Manfred Koonan decided to throw in with Russia and China. President Nathan LaMontaigne spent nearly fours on the phone with the German Chancellor trying to dissuade him. After getting off the phone with the Chancellor, he called Adrienne and told her to come to the Oval Office. "Adrienne, we are facing a major crisis that is going to blow up with the slightest misstep by either us or the belligerent nations aligned against us. With both the Brethren and Atlantean descendants in our own government we are teetering precariously ourselves and as an Atlantean descendant myself, I am afraid that the world is going to be plunged into the most devastating war to ever occur". May 13, 2030. 5: 37AM PDT The Chinese ship Po Zhou Li, a container craft with over 1,000 containers each made of highly exploive material blew up a large part of the Port of San Diego in one massive fireball. 5:42AM PDT In the Port of Los Angeles, the Chinese ship, Mao Hon Ki, a container craft with over 700 containers exploded in one fiery fireball, taking out a large portion of the Port. 5:49AM PDT The Chinese ship, Chao-Li, with nearly a thousand containers exploded with a flash of light, taking out most of the port area. 5: 58AM PDT In the port of Seattle, the Chinese ship, Chu Kwan Ho, with over 600 containers, exploded with enough force that the concussive wave took out the rest of the port that did not go up in the initial explosion. 8:06AM EDT The National Security Advisor, Adrienne Cardonelli stepped into the Oval Office and coughed. The four Congressmen talking with President Nathan LaMontaigne looked up and recognized Adrienne, vacating their chairs and walked out. "Mr. President, Several Chinese Container ships exploded in the ports of San Diego, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Seattle with enough destruction that many lives were lost and wiping out most of the ports themselves. It appears a coordinated effort and an overt act of War". President LaMontaigne replied, "Assemble the Congress so that I can ask for a Declaration of War, Adrienne, please". May 14, 2030. 12: 33AM EDT Several ICBM's appeared over the Pacific Ocean headed towards the United States. 12:37AM EDT President LaMontaigne was awoken by the Secret Service agent carrying the Nuclear football. After the Agent placed the briefcase in an hallway table and opened it with the President, briefing him on the ICBM's. President LaMontaigne decided to push the buttons activating the DOD Killer Satellites that would shoot down the Missiles with Laser fire. 12:41AM The ICBM's were destroyed by laser fire. Several hours later, at 6:44AM Several Chinese Nuclear Subs were racing towards the United States. Again the President was awoken by the same Secret Service agent and this time the President activated both undersea sonic explosions at strategic spots in the Pacific Ocean as well as sending a coded communique to the Ohio class submarine, the Jefferson City and ordered the submarine to destroy any Chinese submarines that may have survived the sonic explosions. Monday May 15, 2030. German Chancellor Manfred Koonan and the Russian President, Anton Dubrovski announced their declarations of War against the United States, allying themselves with China. Within four hours, India declared war against Germany, Russia and China. Within an hour after that announcement, Australia, France, Canada and the United Kingdom declared war against Germany, Russia, and China. Two hours after these announcements, Egypt, Nigeria, Angola, Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan announced their declarations of war against the United States and her allies. Within thirty minutes of that announcement, Israel allied herself with the United States.

	2029. President Nathan LaMontaigne sat at his desk pondering over the report about the Brethren that had been written by Hiram Yaeger the third. Nathan had asked Hiram to be his Science Advisor, leaving NUMA temporarily. Hiram had been thorough as possible with few primary documents from the Brethren. Learning that the Brethren had been organized by the Egyptian Magi, the bodyguards to the Egyptian Pharoahs. They had magical powers,.but the Brethren had been disinherited by the regular Atlantean Magi families and lost their magical powers,.thus the rights to the Millennial objects, including Pandora's Box. An object that had been pursued by the Moran family for nearly 700 years until Delphi Moran had it temporarily. Dirk Pitt had managed to kill Delphi, losing the Pandora's Box in a hot oil pit, in the process. What was not in the report was that as an Atlantean descendant, Hiram Yaeger the third represented the scientific and engineering talents of the mortal Atlanteans who had helped in the founding of the United States and had over time managed to take some of the Millenial objects from the Brethren and locking them away from mortals who sought the power of the Millennial objects. Delphi Moran had been a scientist and engineer who helped develop many technologies but had secretly sought the Pandoras Box because he was unsatisfied with his own talents. May 22, 2029. A retirement party for Carmen Sandefur, the Director of NUMA was already in full swing when Dirk Pitt Jr. and his sister, Summer showed up thirty minutes late. And despite his age, Al Giordino was there too. The gray haired Italian sat in his chair remembering the old days and was happy to see Dirk and Summer show up. Summer and Dirk walked over to see Al and talked with him. Al inquired about their children and how they were doing. Dirk finished up quickly about his kids and then went on to see other partygoers. Summer stayed by Al for awhile telling about all the kids. Carrington Pitt stepped to the podium and gave a short speech about Carmen Sandefur's term as Director of NUMA for the past 10 years and her career at NUMA since 1989, everyone gave a loud applause for Carmen. Carmen stepped to the podium and gave a short speech herself, wrapping up with the announcement that President LaMontaigne has asked Carrington Pitt to succeed as the new Director of NUMA. Carrington Pitt stepped back to the podium and "Yes, I have been asked and am honored to be given this appointment and after some soul searching, I have accepted the nomination just now" She smiles.

	Reading from a Pitt family journal, Dan Forrester reads about December 4, 1875. Aboard the french liner, Pereire, early in the morning a press conference is held and all the New York dailies, weeklies, bi-weeklies and monthlies are in attendance for the return of the American journalist and Diplomat, Charles Schermerhorn Schuyler, who has returned to America after living in Europe for 38 years. Matthew Pitt is the New York Herald representative and manages to get in a couple of questions. Charlie Schuyler waits until the end of the press conference and then walks up to Matthew Pitt. "Mr. Pitt, you remind me of a certain friend of mine, Daniel Pitt, are you any relation?". "Why yes, he is my father. You knew my father?" replies Matthew. "Yes, I knew your father for a time after his travels out west, when he became involved in political matters while I was working for Aaron Burr back in the thirties. I remember him and Aaron knew each other because they were in the war for independence together and later, Daniel worked for Aaron for a while in the 1790s. Aaron even knew your grandfather, Zeke before the war". "My father passed away back in 1854 after attending what would be one of the first meetings of the Republican party in Wisconsin. He certainly lived a long and varied life" says Matthew. "Yes, I remember your father telling me about his travels out west with some of the great mountain men, Jedediah Smith, Henry Ashley, and others. And how he helped survey and build the National Road from Ohio to Illinois" replies Charlie Schuyler.

	Osaka, Japan. The year 1067. Hirotaka Mako meditates by the pool. Sushemi Mako, his wife walks out to the courtyard and waits for Hirotaka's meditations to end. Ten minutes later Hirotaka ends his meditation and looks at Sushemi and inquires to what she wants. Sushemi replies that their baby son, Yorim, is awake. Hirotaka goes to Yorim and spends time with his son. Hirotaka tells his little son that his destiny will be great. Hours later word of a great wave is headed their way and the family heads for high ground. The next day a massive cleanup is begun to rebuild damaged areas. Hirotaka and Sushemi return and find little damage to their home. Thankfully there is little cleanup. Sushemi finds what looks like a child's toy and gives it to little Yorim to play with. 2014. Yori Mako, still unsettled at the loss of her plans to settle and dominate Australia lays in the tub bathing herself. She cleans her supple but curvaceous figure fantasizing about a man who could satisfy her. She toys with the ancient toy figurine that is held around her neck by a strong cord. The figurine was passed down from generation to generation for several centuries. She rinses herself then steps out of the bathtub and towels herself briskly. She calls a phone number hoping the man on the other end can help satisfy her desires. Somewhere in the Sonoran Desert. Hidden away in a mountainous area where few if any have gone before lies a secret lair that houses a helicopter gunship of unrivalled technology. Louis MacDonald, a billionaire watches the demonstration flight of his pet project come to life with devastating firepower. He is very pleased. With this special weaponry he can dominate the airways and the oceans. Sam Melville, the pilot shakes hands with Louis after landing the helicopter. "She handles easily, sir" says Sam. "That is wonderful to hear" replies Louis. "A most powerful weapon to have at one's disposal" continues Louis. February 1067. The next day Summer spends over twelve hours poring over the documents before she spies something written in the margin on the document she's reading. She stands up and goes over to where the clerk is sitting and asks for a certain manuscript that should be in the archive. The clerk finds it after fifteen minutes. Summer pores over it thoroughly until she notices an omission. Some paragraphs have been edited and there's no continuity at all. Summer finds she has hit a brick wall. Then she gets an idea and the next morning she goes to the local magistrate and seeks to find where an elderly person she wishes to interview lives. She gets the information on where that person lives and walks several miles to find the home of Aden Penrod and knocks on the door. The elderly man answers and she inquires whether she can ask some questions of the man. Over two hours later Summer leaves satisfied. Aden Penrod immediately sends a ciphered message to an elderly friend in Spain. Summer walks back to the alley where she first appeared and is teleported to Spain. In Seville, Spain she finds the alcalde's office and inquires where one Wolf Clausen resides. Again she has to walk a few miles to find the man. Wolf opens the door to Summer and assents to being interviewed. Some hours later after she leaves Clausen he receives the ciphered message from Aden. Well on her way to finding what she wants Summer then teleports to Loch Torridon, Scotland and inquires at the first opportunty to find out where one Jameson MacIver lives. After getting instructions Summer has to walk a few hours to find wher MacIver lives. Summer knocks on the man's door and is met by Evelyn MacIver, Jameson's wife. Evelyn lets Summer in and tells Summer Jameson will be back by evening and offers some Haggis to Summer. Just after sunset Jameson walks in the door to find Evelyn and Summer laughing. After telling Jameson what she has learned Summer listens to Jameson for several hours to tell his tale of his grandfather's involvement in bringing the great Morgana, half-sister to king Arthur down in her quest for power. Angus MacIver helped Merlin in a scheme that exposed her evil ways to the public. Before he could be crowned king of all England Arthur had to help Angus and Merlin destroy Morgana's plan to rule all of England. Morgana had set about a fleet to send an army of Scottish and Gaelic men to destroy the forces that were loyal to Arthur. In that fleet one particular ship was sent to the far east to carry an object that Morgana had created in her plan not just to take England but eventually all of the world. That object was to go to a certain individual unknown to all except for the trusted carrier of that object. Included in that object was a certain herb that would eventually be well loved as an ingredient for certain dishes that those of refined tastes could only appreciate. When Jameson informed Summer what herb it was she knew of it immediately. Summer was most appreciative of what she learned and now had some ideas as to what was probably included in Nero's last dinner but how Nero lost his mind when Rome burned and supposedly played his fiddle. Nero was definitely murdered for his knowledge of a plot against him. The man had been manipulated and when he came to realize it after going mad eating that herb he was killed. Summer was shocked but nonplussed at mankind's evil ways. What bothered her was how did Morgana came to be involved in several things that happened around the world involving both current and historical events. There was a vague notion that bothered Summer but it would not come to her. Summer teleported back home to find Nicholas and little Dirk outside in the backyard playing. Then it hit her. The Trojan Conspiracy involving a secret cult of women attempting to seek power that she, Dirk Jr. and their dad had brought down some years back. It was this secret cult that Morgana must have belonged to and manipulating the catholic church and other institutions over several centuries including the founding of the Mafia that Summer now realized. Yori Mako, years ago was involved in the secret Trojan cult but was devastated when it's leader and the other women who held most of the power were brought down by NUMA and the Pitt family. Slowly, Yori built the cult back up to something of a power broker including men and their companies. Yori, now leader of the cult was out to avoid the same mistakes by becoming part of the established powers that be on the planet. She knew better than to seek revenge. Instead she would use them or cause an occasional problem and if need be manipulate them for her own purposes. Through her contacts in high technology Yori learned of the secret helicopter gunship that was hidden away in the Sonoran Desert. She figured that she could use it eventually for her own purposes. With members of her cult in the American mafia, what was left of the Italian mafia, the Yakuza and the Triads Yori had power to use and manipulate across the board of organized crime and the overlord corporate powers in America, Europe and Asia. It was the arabian terrorists she could not fathom nor penetrate. And the drug cartels of Central and South America were just as hard to penetrate. Summer told Nicholas what she learned and then she called St. Julien Perlmutter, Nicholas' grandfather and informed him what she learned. St. Julien was most ecstatic and appreciative. He invited them to dinner to thank them and they went over with little Dirk in tow. St. Julien was most happy to see his great-grandson, Dirk Pitt the third. On a warm day in November 2014 the alarm outside the mountain lair where the Thunderwolf helicopter gunship lies Security guards scramble outside within seconds capturing a woman. Hours later after a torturous interview Sherilyn Wolters reveals her ties to the Omega Group. Louis MacDonald, who had been in California raced to the secret mountain hideaway in time to get a report of what Sherilyn Wolters revealed about her ties to the Omega Group and why she was tramping around the mountain. He calls Yori Mako and tells her what he had just learned. Yori, after hanging up the phone with Louis MacDonald slips out of bed with the bedcover leaving the sleeping man beside her alone and pads across to the bathroom and slips the bedcover off and turns on the shower and steps in showering her slim figure. She's happy that she was able to make a deal with Louis over the past few months and ruminates about how to use the information about the Omega Group and the Blue Cobalt. She had heard about the Omega Group when she was rebuilding the Odyssey Corporation and the Trojan cult. Now how could she use them? December 7, 2014. Returning from their honeymoon in Europe, Dirk Pitt Jr. and his wife, Carrington return to Reagan International Airport and head to their temporary home in the Hangar where Dirk Pitt, Sr. and Loren had vacated after moving to New Zealand back in 2007. Dirk Pitt, Jr. had been living in the hangar since they moved out. Now Dirk and Carrington were planning on buying a home. Dirk calls his sister Summer and inquires how she, Nicholas and little Dirk the third were doing. All is well, Summer replies. December 6, 2014. Sherilyn Wolters is released with a message for Michael Adams and the Omega Group. After leaving Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport aboard a Omega Group executive jet the next day Sherilyn relaxes after her ordeal being held prisoner. Over five hours later Sherilyn Wolters steps into Michael Adams' office. She gives her account of her Desert trek, the capture, being held prisoner, and telling Michael the message from the Odyssey Corporation. Michael's face flushes red hot but considers after a couple of minutes of thinking that he has no choice in the matter. Relaxing in a bathtub of hot water and bubbles Sherilyn reflects on what she has been through and how she has become a pawn in a large power play by large organizations jockeying for position and finds herself scared at the thought but with resignation. Stepping out of the bathtub and briskly drying her supple figure she pads into the bedroom and puts underwear on. She then puts on a terry cloth robe and walks into the kitchen to fix some tea and think. Sitting at the bar and idly going through the pages of a magazine she stops and reads an article about organized crime in Italy and it's waning influence and it's leader, Guillermo De Matalane. Not knowing that at that moment Pierrino Massimo, a hitman hired by Guillermo, is atop a telephone pole with a high powered rifle aimed at a limousine with Steven Wolters, the chief counsel for the White House and former Chairman of the Omega Group, her father. "!@%$ it to *%(( J. Edgar Winters!!" says Michael Adams, sitting at his desk, fuming. "Sherilyn practically told me in that cockamamie message from that Mako woman for me to kill Sherilyn's dad. I had no choice but to call that Italian crud to put the hit on Steven Wolters. Wish to hell I could have figured a way out of it but Yori Mako gave us no choice. I would love to know why she wanted him dead". Yori, sitting at her desk listens dully to the presentation by her assistant. She recalls coming up with the brilliant idea of having Steven Wolters killed by Guillermo knowing full well it will help bring Guillermo's criminal empire to it's knees and crumble the White House administration and leading eventually to the downfall of the Omega Group. She sits back arching her long fingers enjoying what's about to happen with an evil grin. Sitting on the couch watching TV Sherilyn hears the doorbell. Walking over to the door she spies her cousin Sabrina through the peephole with a somber expression. Once the door is open Sabrina slowly but surely informs Sherilyn that Steven Wolters is dead. Sherilyn invites Sabrina in and falls into the couch with some emotion. Sabrina lowers the volume on the TV and they talk for a while. Even though she had a bad time of it with her father before and after moving out on her own Sherilyn did love him. After Sabrina leaves Sherilyn sits on the couch reeling through all the the emotions and eventually coming to think of the mysterious way her father died. Slowly building up an anger at the forces that govern the planet's political and economic reality Sherilyn is stumped at what to do. It's bad enough that I work for a powerful lobby and think tank that heavily influences the Federal Government but considering how it also shapes the political careers of a number of politicians it is no wonder that my father would be killed in such a way. Then Sherilyn recalls a man that her father knew in China when he was the consul there when she was a child. She calls the number and Kwai-Li Ho answers. Kwai-Li Ho, the fourth generation Shaolin priest in his family is happy to hear Sherilyn's voice and listens to how her father died and her inquiry if in his wisdom he could fathom the depths of power in the world. She tells of her career and how in her opinion some things are hard for her to figure out despite what she knows. Sherilyn even lets him in on her search for Blue Cobalt. This reminds Kwai-Li of a story his grandfather tells him but does not relate it to Sherilyn. St. John Perlmutter, a cherubic man not quite as big as his older brother, St. Julien, sits at the table eating when the phone rings. Charlie Edwards, the Chief of Staff at the White House inquires, "St. John is that you? I would like to talk with you as soon as possible". 'What is this about Charlie?' replies St. John. "All hell is breaking out St. John and I need your help!". "Very well, I will be over in a bit". Within the hour St. John finds himself sitting with the President, Charlie, the director of the CIA, and the NSA adviser. "We need you to steal this helicopter St. John because you are the only one trained to fly such an advanced weapon as the Thunderwolf helicopter". 'Why in god's name don't you have anyone else who can do this? I am retired and not as young as I used to be for something of this nature". "St. John, the administration is crumbling and it's only a matter of time before it comes out in the press that we are dirty. We need to get this off the ground and into our hands before Yori Mako strikes again with god knows what". "You better make this a good payment or owe me one hell of a favor guys". "Done, St. John" replies the President. Juan Cabrillo walks down to the communications room on the Oregon. At the console he speaks with Charlie Edwards. "Thought you should know that I am doing this already for Jonathan Kay, Charlie. It's not as if it's for the U.S. Government that we are doing this Blue Cobalt job. Good thing you called because I was thinking of informing you of our job to protect this precious, holy object that's made of Blue Cobalt. It's too bad that things are crumbling around you. Hope there's no one around that connects us or our situation would be corrupted as well. Over and out". Danica Petersen, White House correspondent for the CCF Cable Channel and it's online blog site chief writer picks up the phone after three rings and listens for several minutes from her contact in the White House. "Holy censored!!!" she shouts after hanging up the phone. She calls down to the broadcast studio and demands air time immediately. Within minutes Gail Buckley, the Chief of Broadcast Operations calls Danica demanding an explanation. "Gail, I got a hot item that can be confirmed and needs to be aired immediately before one of the major networks scoops us". 'Your sure, Danica?" comes back Gail. "Yes!!!" "Alright, you got it. Get down here now". Yori Mako, twirling her figurine around her neck awaiting for the news to break about the White House sits at her desk staring at the multiscreen TV on the far wall that is tuned to many channels. Thinking about what her next moves will be she idly picks up a pen and starts doodling on a piece of paper. She thinks about the figurine that's been handed down for generations and it's importance with it's herb that's contained and slivers of blue cobalt in the eyes. The top far right screen suddenly cuts away from it's airing of Marine Shipwrecks and it's White House Correspondent, Danica Petersen, appears on screen talking and Yori turns up the audio and hears the news being given that there's an upcoming press conference and the topic of it is the possible resignations involved in high corruption with organized crime. Michael Adams, the chairman and president of the Omega Group stares at the TV dumbfounded at the detailed statement being given by the white house press secretary involving not just the white house, organized crime, but the Omega Group as well. He calls J. Edgar Winters but only gets his voicemail. Michael leaves a message for J. Edgar to take over and continue the search for Blue Cobalt and hangs up. Realizing he is done for with his days of reigning over Washington, D.C. Michael opens the third drawer on his left and pulls out his Ruger and presses the mouth of the gun into his mouth. BANG. Blood and matter spray the backside of the office. Summer and Carrington were together with a couple of friends talking among themselves when the TV news pre-empted the show that was on. They listen to the news about officials in the White House being involved with Organized crime and the Omega Group influencing the white house and other politicians, and agencies of the government. They are all stunned at the revelations and the mass resignations in the white house, congress, and many government agencies that were caught up in a massive scandal of corruption. Geordi Antonov and his men steal into the monastery and take out the sole guard that's protecting the iconic holy item that is the blue cobalt gem. They take the item without any problems. Unbeknownst to them they do not realize they have stolen a replica of the blue cobalt gem and is being tracked by Juan Cabrillo via satellite aboard the Oregon. Over an hour later at their lair Sherilyn Wolters shows up to pay the men for stealing the blue cobalt gem when Juan and his men bust in and capture everyone. Sherilyn, stunned but mentally relieved at the thought of being taken. Later she tells Juan about the Omega Group and the Thunderwolf helicopter gunship. Juan informs Sherilyn that the Omega Group has been targeted for official investigation after the suicide of Michael Adams. Sherilyn feels better and breathes a sigh of relief at that part of her life being over. 'Will I still be arrested and sent to prison?' Sherilyn asks. "Most likely yes but we can put in a good word for you and get a reduced sentence" replies Juan.

	2009. Aboard the Deep Submergent Observer LaSalle, Dirk and Al were scanning the bottom of the ocean over three miles from where they had found Air Force One and the Duraut Ship, The Tammy Tryloff when they came across the remnants of an unmanned X-51A Scramjet that had crashed in December 2008 as part of a series of experimental flights that had reached speeds of 4.500mph. What they did not know was that they were being observed by a well disguised underwater lab that housed Project Blue Book. Selim Chu-Ling, the team leader yelled at Henry Potchik to radio the Omega Group's Blue Cove, Delaware headquarters. Larry Narvaez, manning the radio at Blue Cove took the message to Steven Wolters, the Chairman of the Omega Group. Steven Wolters in turn called his partner in the Blue Book project, WaldenCorp president, Tyree Broomfield and informed the Defense Contractor that NUMA came close to discovering their underwater lab."Thank you, Steven, I appreciate your calling me" replied Tyree. Danny Silverstone was doing some tedious corporate research when he picked up the trail on Shoreham Associates, an old defense contractor in the 60s and the 70s that had been bought by one company and that company in turn was acquired and so on until it all came under one of the three big defense contractors of today, WaldenCorp. It was Shoreham Associates that had developed the technology that made up the core of it's electromagnetic warfare and detection unit in WaldenCorp's Project Blue Book. As he relayed this to Lewis Arlton, Greg Atkinson was informed that WaldenCorp was trying to keep the location of the Duraut Ship and Air Force One kept from the public in the report that was to be given to the media. Greg Atkinson called Lawrence Turaud and told him, "Lawrence, I don't know if this is of any help but WaldenCorp has pulled some strings to keep the exact location from the Press Release". "Thank you, Greg, I appreciate it". Later, Lawrence gets a call from Lewis Arlton about Shoreham Associates' work and it's being a small part of the large defense contractor, WaldenCorp. Lawrence Turaud drives into the parking lot near the dock where the NUMA Ship, Le Soleil was berthed and awaited for Dirk Pitt to arrive. After 12 minutes of waiting, Dirk finally walked over to the car and slid in beside Lawrence. "Shoreham Associates, an old defense contractor back in the 60s and 70s was involved in electromagnetic warfare and detection for WaldenCorp before and after WaldenCorp bought the company through a maze of companies that had acquired them over time. But, essentially it was WaldenCorp who benefited and has used some chip technology of that EWD program for numerous software in both commercial and noncommercial applications". "Whew, that's quite an advance in technology and secrecy that has kept it secret for this long". "Yes, indeed" replied Lawrence. "I must go, but if this will help you in getting back at them for me, then go for it". Dirk smiles and gets out of the car and watches Lawrence drive out of the driveway and he turns back towards the NUMA Ship. Steven Wolters, former Deputy Secretary of Justice under Reagan, Undersecretary of State for G.H.W. Bush, Deputy Undersecretary of Treasury for Clinton, Ambassador to Israel for George W., and now Chief of Staff for President Dennis Richardson sat in the daily National Security Briefing, half-listening to the National Security Advisor drone on about South Africa when his aide slips in and whispers in his ear about a meeting that the IADC director is calling for. Finally, the meeting ends and Steven strides to his office, impatiently. He picks up his phone and calls Greg Atkinson. "Greg, what is so important that you have to interfere with a National Security meeting for?". "Steven, I have a bit of a trouble with several agencies crying foul about the lack of an exact location of Air Force One and the Turaud ship, the Tammy Tryloff". "Who?" replies the Chief of Staff. "The White House Press Secretary, NUMA, NORAD, NOAA, DIA, Duraut Shipping, Lloyds Maritime Intelligence and so on". Lawrence and Dirk had a good laugh while quaffing some beers at Arthur's Bar about how they manipulated several agencies into the need for the information on the whereabouts of Air Force One and the Tammy Tryloff. Lawrence's cell phone buzzed and he answered it, listening for a few minutes and asking one question. Lawrence put's the cell phone away and turns to Dirk. "Danny Silverstone just did some more research on Shoreham Associates and learned that they had been set up by the Sierra Vista Corporation in Nevada and that reminded him of a vessel that had disappeared in the Triangle back in the 50s, named the Vista, that was a boat that belonged to a family in Nevada whose forefathers had come from both the Basque and Norway lineages. The point is that this family was obsessed with UFO's and Aliens back in the late 1940s and gained some media attention with their claims of capturing aliens and sank their bodies in the Triangle. They are the ones who set up the Sierra Vista Corporation, named after their town. That mask you found is an old Norse relic belonging to Loki, the mischievous son of Thor, and whoever wears the mask shall go crazy. Sounds nuts, I know, but that can explain some ideas that have been bouncing around my head for some time now". Steven Wolters sat at his desk recalling the days he grew up in Sierra Vista. Not only had his father set up the Sierra Vista Corporation but it's spinoff company, Shoreham Associates as well. His father had also set up the museum ond institute on UFO's and Aliens. Steven's father was both genius and touched with madness in his setting up the path to power for his son. Steven was not as passionate or totally into the UFO and Alien obsession but it did lead him to believe in technology that would advance mankind's leap into the future. Malachi Wolters had also taken advantage of Casino and tourism business to gain political influence that would later lead to his influence with U.S. Senator Paul Laxalt. Steven had worked for the U.S.Senator from Nevada before his appointments to the cabinet positions under several administrations. It was only after a couple of years working for Senator Laxalt that he was approached by several corporate, lobbyist and nonprofit interests that had come together for one common goal to set up a powerful organization that would coordinate such interests under one organization that he came to call the Omega Group in 1976. He accepted and led the organization through many challenges and also it had helped his career as a bureaucrat under several Presidents. On a phone call to Lawrence Turaud, Dirk asked who Tammy Tryloff was "Dirk, I met this most attractive woman when I worked in Dayton, Ohio back in the late 1980s for several weeks just before I set up my shipping company in Chicago. I was on assignment for the shipping company that I worked for at the time and was sent to Dayton. I met her at Goodwill Industries where I was to get some furniture for some of the ships in their fleet. So I went to the Goodwill headquartes on Kuntz Road in Dayton and was given a tour of the facility and met her there. She was working as an occupational rehabilitation counselor there. We had a brief affair, but she left a strong impression on me. I later learned that she was married and living in Seattle. It was a wonderful interlude, but alas it was not to last. I take it everything has settled down now that all the agencies are happy with the exact location of the ship and Air Force One". "Yes, indeed, especially the FBI and Secret Service" answered Dirk Pitt.

	When he got the phone call from Melbourne DeVilbiss, Rainn D'Adamo could care less that there was a new leader of the non-Magi Atlantean descendants. Rainn just wished that he did not have to carry the mantle of being leader of the Magi Atlanteans, himself. Although, Melbourne did most of the work that was involved, on behalf of Rainn and enjoyed it. Rainn D'Adamo was bereft of any appreciation that his family has done as the leading family of Atlanteans.
