The last sighting of the creature had been in 1987. Previous to that sighting was in 1974. Now, with the creature having been caught and ready to be shown on National television, it was important to Rudolph Fairhoeven, that the creature not be seen by the general audience. Project Utmost Heap was threatened if the creature were allowed to be seen. He called a certain number in Washington, D.C. Vice-President James Sandecker in his office at the Naval Observatory residence, picked up the telephone. For five minutes Vice-President Sandecker listened to his old friend. "I will take care of it, Dick. Believe me, I will." With less than ten minutes to air time, it would be dicey to pull off such a daring operation. Calling Hiram Yaeger Jr. at NUMA Headquarters in Seattle, James Sandecker asked if Hiram could pull off a graphic display of the creature while the real one was being kidnapped. "Yes, Admiral, I can do that with no problem at all."

Fessenden Gly had been part of Project Utmost Heap in the late 60s as a young man of 19, having been born out of wedlock to Stefan Gly in 1949. Fessenden had been raised by his mother, Victoria Frigo, who had given him his father's last name. His mother only told him so much about Stefan and he accepted his fate that he would not know much about his father or of the half-brother, Murdoc who was four years younger. Having run away because of the draft, Fessenden had slipped over the Canadian border into British Columbia in 1967. It was the following year when he hooked up with Doctor Fairhoeven in Alaska. Dr. Fairhoeven became a surrogate father to him as he was in need of guidance. It was Dr. Fairhoeven who convinced him to join the scientist on a project in the Himalayas. When he came back to the states in 1971 he needed money and decided that it would be easier to hijack an airliner and hopefully get some money. It almost worked but he had lost a lot of the money when he had parachuted to escape in the wilds of Oregon. It was while in the woods that the effects of the scientific project began to overtake his body and he became hairier.

Nobody was the wiser as an image of a hairy creature was transmitted by Max to the Network feed. The kidnapping of the real creature had gone off smoothly by the ONI/CIA task force of six men. Elsinore Maxton, the sportsman millionaire who had caught the creature with his hired ex-mercenaries was dumbfounded and furious at the surprise attack/kidnapping by the ONI/CIA men. He knew it had to be really important if the government had gotten involved and was determined to find out through his contacts in the federal government as to who and why the kidnapping had occured. The television network was stumped as to how an image had gone out over the air and could not help but be pleased with the decent ratings that were coming in from a select number of spot polling in six major cities.

Fessenden was resigned to his situation in the cellroom where he was unceremoniously dumped. The tiny window showed a river in the distance but he still could not figure out where he had been taken because he had been blinded with a gunnysack over his head while in the cargo van. When he pulled the gunnysack off he was in a cage in the moving cargo van and no windows to see out. But the strong men who had taken him were sitting near the cage with one of them pointing a gun with a knockout dart at him. Without uttering a sound during their attack on him in the backstage of the television studio, they had no idea he was human underneath his hairy body. This was a new situation for him after eluding many an attempt over the years to catch him on camera or the few times someone had gotten close enough to try and take him. On the few forays into urban areas in the dark night over the years he had learned that Dr. Fairhoeven was still alive but hard to find. Not that he wanted the Doctor to capture him and have experiments or god knows what done to him. He had managed over the years to live off the land or nearby farms and occasionally civilized food when he approached restaurants in the dark night to pilfer some food. When the lumber companies started cutting trees in the Northwest at a faster clip he had to migrate quite a bit or sneak over the Canadian border occasionally where there were still many large forests to hide in. He had occasionally run into a few bears and other wild animals who he had to fight with and came close to losing his life a few times. He had learned a few tricks to outwit them after the first few attacks on him.

On one occasion an attractive woman had come into the area where he was staying, and despite his better sense, Fessenden allowed himself to be seen. At first she was scared and then realized he was not what he appeared to be. He allowed her to come closer and while she was admiring his hairy body, he moved fast and in no time had managed to have sex with her. He still could not believe that she allowed it to happen but still considered it an act of rape in his mind. Later he had gone into a town where he believed that she lived and learned that she had given birth to a baby exactly nine months after the incident and though she was living with a man, he knew the baby had to be his. He figured the child had to be just over 10 years old now as he sat staring at the four walls of the cell he was stuck in.

When Rudolph was informed where the creature had been taken, he had to get there as soon as possible after thanking Vice President Sandecker. Knocking on the door of the cell, Dr. Fairhoeven spoke in a loud voice, "Fessenden! It's me, Dr. Fairhoeven! I'm coming in! Please don't attack me, because if you do, you will be killed!! Understand?" Opening the door, Rudolph stepped in. "Hi Fessenden! It's been years! Good to see you're still alive and breathing!" Staring at the scientist who had done this to him, Fessenden felt the rage boil inside his body but controlled the urge to kill the man. "Dr. Fairhoeven, yes it has been a long time since you have changed me into this, this body that no longer looks human. Even if it's shaved off, it grows back within 24 hours. It has been a hard life, being on the run, moving from place to place, wandering over a large area of this continent. I have roamed the Rockies from Canada down to Mexico and back, many times. And what has it done for me? Can you answer that?"

After leaving Fessenden and making sure he was well taken care of, Rudolph Fairhoeven went to his laboratory complex and reviewed his notes on Fessenden. Picking up the phone, Rudolph dialed the number of the man who had financed his project back in the late 60s, early 70s. "Reginald, good news!! We have captured Fessenden!!" "My god! You're not joking are you?" "No, Reginald! It's true, we have Fessenden locked up!" Reginald Manton felt pleased that after all these years it would be good to put the matter to rest. "Rudolph, I am very happy for you and the project as well! It was a good investment to have you go to the Himalayas to find some of the seeds of the tree of knowledge and some Yeti DNA. I told you then, that after many years of my family's search for the seeds and Yeti DNA, it would produce some very interesting results and I was right!" After the phone call ended, Reginald called his sister, Maggie, who was the chairman of Deep Number Nine, the family company and told her the news.

Maggie Manton was ecstatic at the news and after hanging up the phone, she turned to her assistant, Toni Pierson, a tall, redheaded beauty that Maggie adored and spoiled. Maggie was still a raven haired beauty but was nearing fifty and knew that her looks were beginning to fade. Smiling, she informed Toni of the call. As a descendant of an Atlantean magi family, Maggie knew in her heart that she had to bring in the dreaded Montalcito/Cristiani families of the engineering/scientific clans of Atlantean descendants to do the dirty work and use them as a cutout if necessary, in order to prevent any investigation or suspicions.

What Rudolph Fairhoeven had not mentioned to Reginald and Maggie Manton back in the late 1960s when he had given his report on what was needed in bringing Project Utmost Heap to fruition was a vital element, Cusslerite, to help fuse the Yeti DNA and the Seeds of Knowledge into his creation or recreation as he liked to believe of the long lost Yeti creature that had once walked the Earth. With Fessenden Gly as his subject, Rudolph had succeeded in recreating the Yeti creature.

Finally, after working all his contacts in the Federal government, Elsinore Maxton was able to learn it was a group of ONI/CIA agents who had taken the Yeti away from him and also learned that it was the Vice President who had used his power and influence to snatch the creature for a secretive player in scientific circles. Elsinore had to know more about this secretive player and was determined to learn everything.
