The last time I was here the release date showed as March something ...... now its April 8th. Are they expecting another big release movie to come out at the end of March or have they changed something?

Good eye! ohmy.gif

It's obviously not a mistake. They've changed the release date for Sahara at several major movie sites.

So FRIDAY, APRIL 8TH is the new day to mark in the calender.

Hope they're aiming for a worldwide opening. wink.gif

I thought I'd look up if maybe they wanted less competition with other movies:

MARCH 25TH RELEASES:

Miss Congeniality 2: Armed and Fabulous (Warner Bros.)
Sandra Bullock continues as an FBI agent in Las Vegas.

Mozart and the Whale (Millenium Films)
A dramatic, romantic comedy about two people with Asperger's Syndrome.

March 25 D.E.B.S. (Samuel Goldwyn Pictures)
Plaid-skirted schoolgirls are groomed by a secret government agency to become the newest members of the elite national-defense group, D.E.B.S.

Nanny McPhee (Universal Pictures)
Emma Thompson portrays a person of unsettling appearance and magical powers who enters the household of a recently widowed man with seven unbehaved children. They have already managed to drive away 17 previous nannies...

Guess Who (Columbia Pictures)
(Bernie Mac) is taking no chances with his daughter (Zoe Saldana's) future. He checks out her dates even before they meet. This new one passes with with flying colors. But there is one thing - he is white...

The Ballad of Jack and Rose (IFC Films)
Drama about a man's legacy and his young daughter's coming of age. He tries to live an environmentally correct life and separate himself and his family from the dictates of "civilization." But changed relationships will make this hard...

APRIL 8TH RELEASES

Sahara (Paramount Pictures)
You all know.

Unleashed (Rogue Pictures)
Jet Li plays a guy who lives as a slave and knows nothing but how to fight. Morgan Freeman teaches him about the world through music.

Fever Pitch (20th Century Fox)
Baseball movie starring Drew Barrymore and Jimmy Fallon.

The Cave (Screen Gems)
A team of hi-tech explorers discovers something scary inside a giant underwater cave, deep into the Romanian forest.

While Sahara is now up against fewer movies, it's up against two of similar genre, while on March 25 it'd be the only action movie coming out. Hmm.... good choice?

The only thing I see is that March 25th is Good Friday. Don't know if this had any part in the delay or maybe the studio needs more editing time. I guess we'll just have to play wait and see.

I read that Mr. Cussler was suing the producers because they broke the contract. He intends to stop the movie in court. Reason: They signed a contract giving Mr. Cussler the "FINAL" say so on the star and final script. He wanted someone else and did not like their final script. He has waited for a very long time to put Dirk Pitt on screen, and vowed that Hollywood not get another chance with his books.Hollywood ruined "Raise the Titanic" The group that he sold some of his books to, lied to him. I do hope he wins his suit. Good luck Mr. Cussler. Hope you can come to Florida and get that cut I promised you 10 years ago.

I hope that this is the nailed down date. Whether the movie is good, bad or ugly, I am still looking forward to seeing Matthew's interpretation of Dirk Pitt.
