Just finished Corsair

I finished Corsair yesterday and it's great! fast paced, new gear, plenty of plot twists and turns, and historical parallels. It had the feel of some of the earlier Dirk and Al stories. Vixon 03 and Night Probe come to mind. If work had allowed, I would have finished it in one sitting. (Don't you just hate it when work gets in the way of necessities?)

This is escapist action/adventure story telling at its best. And the next Numa Files book will be out in a few months as well as the Cussler Code 2 at some point. 2009 will be a good Cussler year.

I too finished Corsair this weekend!

Lots of familiar themes as well as high drama, intrigue, and excitement.

I'm almost done with it too. Glad to hear it stays exciting to the end.
I love the "PIG" too. Maybe they will use it in future books.

I loved the PIG as well but didn't want to say too much until more folks had a chance to read the book. I did send Jack an email asking who came up with the concept. I'll let you know when I get a response.
After doing two Oregon books in a row, Jack is supposed to be working on another Mercer novel which is always good news.

Just started it and was wondering if anyone else noticed the ship jumping between the Siren and Intrepid during the battle with Jamar at the beginning?
His new editors aren't doing their jobs me thinks

Wish they would add the occasional map and pictures like they did in Arctic Drift.

I just finished it this afternoon. Another great Cussler (or DuBral) read!! I didn't notice about the ship jumping at the beginning, but there were several sentences that were difficult to figure out and at least one that was entirely wrong (at least I think so - can't remember where). A bit frustrating, but I thoroughly enjoyed it!! Can't wait for Medusa, Spartan Gold, Wrecker, and whatever comes after. I'm going to have to rearrange my bookshelves as I have only enough room for one more Cussler book.

hi guys n girls not read corsair yet and from what you say it seems pretty good not all but most cussler books i get read in about one/two weeks dam [can i say that ]work gets in the way

Loved it. Was overseas when I saw it so I brought it! I wanted it.

Oregon is quickly becoing my favorite series.

There was a container ship overseas- I was big and shiny and amazing and close. (new as wel so not like Oregon) and also live in a land locked city so I don't see container ships often.

I finally broke down and bought a new hardcover Corsair, the only Clive Cussler book I hadn't read yet. Although I liked the sagas of the Oregon and teams, they weren't quite at Dirk Pitt and NUMA Files levels, usually.
This time earlier history was brought in better, the villains were very much realistic and up to date, and the action was non-stop with great character development, and plausible details, with only a little science fiction/fantasy. It was right up there as the best Clive has written, in my opinion, even slightly better than the best Dirk Pitt novels, and that is saying a lot!! I finally just could not put it down and read until finished, losing a lot of sleep!
Maybe it could have used a couple maps, but the area was more localized than most of the books. The action was more complex than any before, mainly because of the split up of various teams into at least four areas of action with people we knew. The moslem terrorists were realistic, and timely for both 1803 and now, whereas other villains were less realistic and plausible. There was the underlying hope that there could be lasting peace between the kill cult and Christians, a nice fantasy, along with the DNA of a "virgin" birthed Jesus in the last sentences.
There was some Indiana Jones type archeology and action, along with sea and land battles, with a mixing of James Bond style espionage action. It did not have the broad scope and underwater action of many of the other novels, or the heavy science fiction. It just didn't have room for everything, everywhere. The story was complete and full as it is, complex and action packed. If not the best, then in the top five of all of Clive's novels, co-written or not. A real masterpiece! Thanks again Clive and Jack!

I just finished the audio-book, costed me some sleepless nights, cause i could not stop...Beside "Skeleton Coast" and "Dark Watch", this is one of my favorites. I do anyway like the books with Jack Du Brul more than the ones with Craig Dirgo...it`s better writing style, for my opinion.

This was one of the things i also wondered about, but i thought it was my lack of understanding english
