Heh heh. I once tried to look for a possible real-life location using Google Earth, but couldn't really pinpoint a good one.

According to our own Helene Noelle's excellent site, the details for Dirk's hanger are

266 Airport Place
Washington D.C. 20001
"Dirk Pitt resides in an old metal aircraft hangar built in 1936 as a maintenance hanger on the edge of Washington National/International Airport a.k.a. Ronald Reagan International."

I don't think so. Isn't the hanger supposed to be in a bit of a deserted area?? Also, that looks a bit big. Maybe I'll look at Google Earth and see what I can find.

What about the smaller hanger just to the left (our left) of the end of the runway??? * bottom of the picture*. It appears to be in a more deserted area and it isn't quite as big. Just a thought. detective.gif

Well, it's definately a puzzle to think on.

The most secluded one which has already been mentioned would be my choice, but think of it this way.

Since his marriage and the arrival of the kids, if I were Dirk I would take into account the following facts.

Just married.(no problem plenty of room for two)

2 Grown up kids arrive.(Pullman Railroad Carriage is ok for them, (for now)

Right, this was originaly a batchelor pad, with room for the odd guest and of course a master bedroom big enough to entertain his latest conquest.

Now there is 4 permanent residents, (and as I don't remember any mention of a second) only one bathroom? or at least limited Guest facilities.

(I will get shot for saying this but 2 are female, so I can forsee "congestion" for the use of the facilities??) unsure.gif

If I were Dirk, having since been promoted to head of NUMA, and spending the majority of my time at the office, I would have already moved into Lorens place and given the kids the hanger to use(providing they look after the collection).

This option would probably be preferable to Loren as well, as they will both be closer to work, and know that the Kids had a secure place to stay long term( or at least till they got there own place's.

Just a thought!.

Mal.

Hey MG Mal! Read my Mars Fire; Purple Files fanfiction! I have the twins living in the Hangar while Loren and Dirk have retired to New Zealand. Then Dirk Pitt Jr. get's married and he and his new wife find a house in Fairfax, VA just a few blocks from Kurt Austin! wave.gif

Hmm, can't see Dirk moving very far from his collection but I do reemeber that when he and Loren got married they agreed to spend week about at each other's place. I also remember reading (Trojan Odessy or Black Wind?) that the twins are living in the Railroad carriage and like Kellym I think(or is that hope?) that he installed facilities down there.

In BW the kids are the occupants of the hangar and Dirk and Loren are in town. There are facilities in the pullman coach as stated in one book that Al occaisionally used it when he wanted to impress a date. And that's where the kids first stayed when they first showed up.Dirk also used it in VR when Kelly and Sandra moved into the hanger.
