Order the action-adventure Sahara — starring Matthew McConaughey, Penelope Cruz and Steve Zahn — and get a free bonus DVD!

This exclusive bonus disc includes "Making of the Camel Chase Scene," two animatics sequences and three storyboard-to-movie comparisons.

Sahara releases 8/30/05. Bonus disc will arrive with the DVD and is available while supplies last.

Best Buy negotiated with Paramount Pictures to create this Bonus DVD, so, ... add that to the "Sahara" Movie (next sequel) account!!! beersmilie.gif smile.gif

With ticket sales at $120 Million and an easy $10 Million or more in DVD Sales the studio should make a small profit on Sahara. thumbsup.gif thumbsup.gif thumbsup.gif

I suspect that the studio is going to make a lot more than ten million on video sales. I have read in several articles that the studios make three times the amount on DVD sales than they made at the theater. I first thought that was a bit excessive, but when you think of the number of copies they sell to every video store worldwide in addition to video sales to individuals, it makes sense. Plus they make more money on sales to the cable networks. I just saw Sahara at my hotel in Vegas last week, so that's probably another source of income for them.

I thought it was interesting that BEST BUY is offering something extra if you buy the Sahara DVD from them. The last time I recall that happening was when Matrix came out. Does anyone know the signifigance of this? Or is there any? Here in LA the competition can get pretty intense when some new DVD's come out.

I read recently that Blockbuster is unhappy with "Hollywood" because of poor quality of the movies this year. I understand that video store rentals are down. This would probably mean that DVD sales are down for the recent crop of movies.

Wishful thinking here...but given the movies out recently--the ones that are remakes of old TV shows and old movies, one would think that original stories such those of Dr. Cussler would be embraced. But I guess that it up to Dr. Cussler and the studios reaching a mutual understanding.

I agree with you mlp! With the lack of original content and other sources of income like DVD, etc... are better at bringing the money in. The Incredibles set a record for first day sales of their DVD's. So, yes Sahara will definitely make something of a profit. I mentioned $10 Million because that was the lowest figure I could conceive them making.
