So in the movie sahara they now have officially thrown out the lincoln thing. They have also gotten rid of the UN force that saves Dirk and Giordino from Tebezza. What the hell is crusader entertainment doing. Their getting rid of the best stuff. I've forgiven them about all of the actors except for matthew mcaunahaugh. THat doesn't cut it with me.

Its my understanding that certain sub-plots like the Abe Lincoln one were axed from the Sahara script and it was agreed to by all parties. In order to scale down an epic like Sahara into a 2 hour movie, these compromises were deemed necessary.

argh...where is the "official" trickle of info coming from? and why haven't i heard this before?
I knew there was a plot to ax the Lincoln subplot...but i never thought it would manifest into this...I loved the Civil War undertones throughout the novel...

RIP Civil War subplot...
you will be missed...

Not entirely ... The ironclad, "Texas" and the confederates still run the gauntlet to escape across the Atlantic. Its just that we may not see Abe standing on the foredeck.

I can't belive that they can cut it out. if they do then they have to cut out the kitty manock sequence because she finds him and they also have to cut out pearlmutter. that's the whole point of finding the ironclad in the desert. ok i'm done venting angry.gif

Yeah but they've also gotten rid of the UN task force that's sent by hala kamil. Now they're being replaced by wondering nomad army. What crap is this.

Golferreino it is quite easy to understand why they got rid of the UN task force .....

it is cheaper to dress a bunch of nomads than a bunch of soldiers !!!

It seems to me that every thing that they have done or decided not to do is to save them money! If they are going to do a CC book they should spend the money and do it RIGHT angry.gif

I hate to see them toss out the UN task force too. There are some good characters
there. And I just can't see a bunch of nomads taking down Tebezza. Or is that
not in the movie either?

I have to agree with Buzzardluck. They may as well spend the money to do it right, then they`ll see how many true Cussler fans are willing to pony up the bucks to see it in the theatre rather than wait for the video to be released.

Golferreino2002, What is your source for this new info? I did a search on the trades and other possible sources but can't find anything about the U.N. forces being replaced by Nomads. Is this just a rumor?

I would like to make a comment on the next CC movie and as to which book it should be. Even though CC made an appearance as a reporter, he was utterly mortified at the mockery that Hollywood did to Raise the Titanic. I would like to see how CC would handel that movie now. Not only for redemption but also for the opportunities that new technolgy will give him for the shoot. Perhaps I am wrong, but I am willing to bet the CC would jump at the chance to show people what the book was truly about. Not campy and hokey, but elegant and brilliant. wink.gif
