Every leak we can stop up is a victory, but consider this fact:
In 1998, about 6 million metric tons of oil entered the world ocean. Natural seeps accounted for only about 10% of this annual input... About a third of the total was associated with marine transportation. So where does the remaining sixty percent come from? Much more oil reaches the ocean in runoff from city streets or as waste oil dumped down the drains, poured into dirt or hidden in trash destined for a landfill. I hear ya Sean. On my small scale I cringe at the thought of all the oil that gets dumped down the sewer drains and kitchen sinks. I recycle everything I can get my hands on and that includes oil because David changes the oil in our cars. I don't know what happens to it when I drop it off at the recycling centers but sometimes I'm not quite so sure it's not going down their drains.

60% ? What is wrong with people. Recycling is the only way to go now. Wake up folks. We can't go on like this for to long. Our children and grandchildren deserve better.

The Oil companies have to be stopped!!!!!!! And Recycling be made a LAW!!!! |

It is a law here but so hard to enforce. To many things can be hidden in your trash cans of in some cases dumped by the side of the road. We have to police ourselves.

Some people only care about themselves and it's to HARD to put an extra bucket out for recycling pickup or to take their oil, old paint ect to a hazardous waste center.
