There was a typesetting error in my copy of Vixen03 that took me awhile to figure out. Turns out it was just that two adjacent lines of text were switched. I don't have the book with me here at work, but I think it was around page 79 or something, at the top of the page.

Also, I'm currently reading Atlantis Found and on page 55 it says "The water was icy cold, but he stayed warm inside his DUI Norseman dry suit during the passages he was forced to swim. He had chosen the Norseman because it had a greater ease of movement when he was out of the water."

Later, on page 95 it says: "The dive equipment was basically the same as that Pitt used before, except now he intended to wear a dry suit. The wet suit had proven practical for movement out of water and protected him from cold during the hike through the mines, but the dry suit was more efficient in insulating the body against the frigid thermal temperatures of the underground water."

Also, on the second dive it says he is wearing one of those Mark II full face masks, but when he is attacking one of the bad guys it says he "spat out his mouthpiece... and bit the wrist as hard as his jaws could clamp." I'm not familiar with Mark II full face diving masks, but would this be possible?

Although I've pointed this out in the other Black Wind thread..... (I've been assured it hadn't been pointed out).

In Trojan Odyssey, Parts 2 and 3 start on the exact same day. Despite all that happens in Part 2.

Just read this one in Polar Shift.

spoiler >>>

Pg 121
*He (Austin)gave her a quick peck on the cheek, then threw the line back through the open door and climbed down to the end of the crude ladder*

further down the page:

*Austin guessed that Trout was to exhausted to pull himself out.He saw Gamay peering anxiousley down at him from the helicopter. He gave her a wave, took a deep breath and jumped from the helicopter*

Made me read it twice to make sure. unsure.gif

One more that I found...

In Trojan Odyssey on page 54 Heidi is emailing her husband and telling him that the hurricane is moving east, then on page 55 it says that the hurricane is heading west.
Which way is it?

I would think that most hurricanes in that part of the ocean are moving West, but I may not be remembering the scene accurately.

2 very bad errors in Polar Shift and I am not done with the book.

Plot spoiler if you have not read Polar Shift

Read on . . .

Error one
Kurt is rescued in the opening chapters by a guy on a boat with a spider tatoo. Kurt takes over the boat to resuce other people and jumps off. The boat and guy leave the seen. In Chapter two on pages 35 to 37 there is no mention of the guys name. "The bald man and his boat disappeared"
Later Kurt says the fellows name while aboard a ship that s sinking seeing an item that was identical on the Spider totooed guys boat. The point is the guy never said his name and here is Kurt saying the fellows name. chapter 15, page 164 "Without thinking, Ausitn said: "Spider Barrett.""

More like the Authors not thinking and writing Spider Barrett.

Then in Chapter 20 Kurt meets up with Spider and Spider Says "You know who I am?" And that what I want to know.

poor error.

Error two
The plot involves Nikola Tesla the creator of AC electriticy, the book states he lived in the 18th centruy but Nikola Tesla was born in 1856 and died in 1943. Which is bad when the on the page before it says he worked with Thomas Edison (who was born in 1847 and dies in 1931). chapter 17 pages 185 and 186.
Tesla Bio

Try 1800's or 19th Century and since the follow lived till 1943 CC and PK should have said 19th and 20th century. The 18th century is the 1700's.

For a copy editor by trade these are bad errors, almost high school errors.

And I have 200 pages to go in reading

Polar Shift (9) p. 113:

"Thanks," Austin said, turning to Cabral. "Pete, I'd like to borrow the ship's helicopter. How soon can you have it redy to fly?"

Kurt Austin is talking to Captain "Tony" Cabral on the Peter Throckmorton.
Obviously we can chalk this one up as being a subliminal error.

Actually if you read one page further on Kurt asked his dad who it was and his dads tells him it's Spiderman Barrett. wink.gif

proofreading seems to have taken a back seat in the past few years. They are making it to easy to find the errors. laugh.gif

In Valhalla Rising, they talk about taking Kelly Egan to her Dad'd farm in NJ but it is in NY and referred to NY several other times. ohmy.gif

I canīt quote exact mistakes (I donīt read novels with that aspect in my mind) but lately there have been some oddities in ship speeds.

Just a reminder: with displacement type hulls (as opposed to planing hulls) doubling the speed requires 8 times as much power (power requirement increase=speed increase factor cubed).
