In the local newspaper (that I print) it states that the area where I live has just experienced it's COLDEST July on RECORD! Now, you would think that in today's global warming scenario, the article should have logically stated that it was the hottest on record, not the opposite.

Whats going on where you are?

and check this article out and the comments below it;

It has rained 8 days here in Austin, Texas the whole year and we have had over 50 days of 100+ temps and no relief from those kind of temps in sight. I hate it , I crave rain.

I live in New England and we've had coldest summer on record too. Strange, huh?

We had one of the coldest,snowiest winters on records and last week saw the temp records fall 3 days in a row.38.8 celcius is really hot for here and it's constantly been in the high 20's low 30's.
It's definatley been a wacky year for weather.

Some may say the summer has been unusually cold here in Wisconsin, but I think it's been absolutely beautiful. I will take 70s (low 20s) over 90s (30s) any day. Of course, I don't own a pool.

We're finally getting some rain here this weekend, Julie. It's been pretty dry most of the summer.

It has been an unusual year here in Little Rock. We had a wetter than normal May, and also cooler. June was nice, then came July, a usually hot and dry month, and we broke all records - rainfall galore, most every day, and cooler than normal by a good bit. It's August now, and it's hot like usual. Nature will be Nature. There were many unusual times according to past History in the World's weather. May be it's just Mother Nature doing as Mother Nature wants to do. Is that why they call Nature "Mother", a female? Who know, but science substantiates serious changes taking place worldwide, so it would seem as usual nothing ever stays the same. We just have to do whatever we can to keep the changes at a minimum.

Going along these lines, I read a pretty good book a while ago by a fairly well known author. I won't write his name, but it's Mich*** *****hton. It's called State of Fear. With more and more scientists and meterologists doubting the extent of global warming, the book is very relevent. MC researched the book thoroughly, giving a 20-page bibliography. I recommend it for those who haven't read it.

(I apologize for mentioning another author. Though I enjoyed MC, Cussler's still my all-time fave)

We are warmer than usual because of our Cities and the energy wasted from these Cities, Factory Farms, etc... But we are definitely moving towards an Ice Age. wave.gif boat.gif

In New York we had the coldest July in many, many years. We didn';t need the central air untill the last week of the month. May was a different story. I have never turned the air on that early in the season. A lot of rain in July too. Sorry Julie I can't send you any. sad.gif

For the last couple of years, we've had noticeably warmer winters and somewhat cooler summers here in Nova Scotia. Also, CNN.com had an article a few days ago stating that the northern glaciers were melting at a much faster rate than initially predicted... unsure.gif

I see that you updated your question of the week, John. Nice!

I wish we'd been having warmer than average winters. It's been kind of brutal, although a couple years ago it was quite pleasant in December but then didn't get above freezing until March. The weather patterns have been quite strange lately.
