Hi,
I really really liked Cussler's 'Spartan Gold'. It's the 2nd book i've read of his (my first was 'black winds'). I really liked:

How he took the story to some really exotic/scenic locations and gave a good taste of the affluent lifestyle one dreams of. I liked how he described the local culture of these locations as well, without getting too carried away with the descriptives.

How he focussed on what the characters were doing/ what the clues meant etc rather than focussing too much on the descriptives (E.g. the characters' emotions/ the environment.)

The characters that always seemed headstrong and on top of their game.

Can anyone recommend a book that seems to have these sort of qualities (Cussler or even by another author)??

thanks.

Inca Gold, Shock Wave, Atlantis Found, Sahara - some of the best Cussler has to offer, in my opinion smile.gif

Besides Cussler of course. you would want the best of the best novelists like Frederick Forsyth, Robert Ludlum. Too many writers today are focusing on churning out boiler plate novels but if you want the precursors to todays writers go with the above names and even further back to the 60s and even earlier than that with a few pulp writers. pirate.gif s18.gif wave.gif

When I'm in the mood for a good adventure and don't particularly want to read Cussler (shocking I know.) I always reach for one of these guys - Sean Ellis, Craig Dirgo or Jack Du Brul. s18.gif thumbsup.gif
