Great action sequences! You gotta love the part where the guy running away jumps through the tiny door window and the guy chasing just kicks the door down. laugh.gif

I don't think there's been any movement forward on this, and I'm not convinced this clip is entirely what it seems. It does appear to be a very interesting action-thriller with great production values, but I don't see anything in it that strictly says "Oregon Files" aside from the titles which could have been spliced in. I hope I'm wrong, of course.

I'm hopeful that the recent optioning of James Rollins' Sigma Force series will wake some people up. Sigma Force is a good model for Oregon Files because the producers aren't going to make the books into movies, but are instead going to develop an independent storyline. This seems like such an obvious solution to the problem of delivering good movies without ruining good books in the process.

Maybe, but writing independent stories based on a popular book series without using the source material can be more of a problem then a blessing. While this "idea' may not ruin books,it could ruin the series.

i do agree, but the part at the end where the gun turret pops up and destroys the boats chasing the oregon, does seem very much like the books

Okay, I've been doing a lot of research on various topics, including the question I raised earlier...is the Oregon Files trailer real.

I managed to find the website of the production company and a better version of the trailer here: Oregon Files trailer

There's also a paragraph about the trailer, which satisfies me that this is not (as I earlier feared) a mash-up of scenes from various straight-to-DVD Hong Kong action flicks.

There was also one other thing nagging at me which this version of the video helped clear up: the name on the stern. You can't make it out in the low-rez version, but it's very clear in this photo.

Given the way in Raise the Titanic was received and the huge and expensive trouble Sahara created it would be unlikly that Clive would get into that bed again.

That said if the trailer was anything to go by, it looks like a huge departure and may I say it by far a much better proposal.

Bring it on please pirate.gif

That's an awesome pitch video. Thanks for easing my concerns. Now if only someone would finance the damned thing.

I emailed GOTV for more information about the Oregon Files trailer and received this:
QUOTE
GoTV was hired by Mix Entertainment Holdings to produce a trailer for a one hour television series based on the Oregon Files franchise. The project was executive produced by Scott Ross and John Fassett. For any information regarding the future development of the project, you would need to contact Mix Entertainment Holdings directly.

Mix Entertainment is affiliated with the Tribune company, a well known media giant and producer of many popular syndicated shows. That being said, I suspect the fact that the pitch and trailer were produced just as the economy tanked may offer an explanation as this hasn't gone anywhere.

At this time Robert [Bovill] is a partner in Mix Entertainment Holdings, developing television, film and real estate projects. He wrote the treatment for Clive Cusslers “Oregon Files” that helped persuade Mr. Cussler to give MIX the authorization to convert his books into television, film and gaming products.
